These guys who want to protest have a point... And please why do nairalander see anyone who doesn't support Tinubu as Obedient...and you'll be making up unrealistic reasons to make you sound intelligent and defend why you should suffer... Nigeria has crude, we have 3 major refineries... There's no justification for the hike in fuel price. If the govt is selling crude to Dangote at a fair price this will be better.. Dangote still outsource crude.. then subsidy was taken for refineries to be fixed from day 1 and till now none of them is working.. it calls for concerns.... Mind you this oil issue has more impact on Nigerians because we use it both for transportation and fuel for alternative source of power. Israel and Iran can't be at war and we'll be the one feeling the heat.

You are supposed to protest Infront of the US and Iranian Embassies that is where the Oil price increase is from

You must be the only ones who don't know that there is a war going on in the Persian gulf

Do you determine the price you sell/buy that fuel?
It's common sense to realize that as the war rages and the major oil producing countries if the Gulf can't export, that the price will go up due to demand from other sellers. Nigeria and Dangote can't sell crude and buy it's derivatives at a different price outside that determined by such scenarios.

So this is just the beginning of the ripple effects of the senseless war Trump started and instigated by Netanyahu. So the sooner it's resolved the sooner they can resume production and bridge the supply gult and saturate the market which would eventually cause reduced prices.

Hope my summary helps

Notice of Planned Protest Over Fuel Price Increase in Nigeria

A coalition of civil society groups and concerned citizens has announced plans for a peaceful protest scheduled for 12th March 2026 across five states in Nigeria. The demonstration is being organized in response to the recent increase in fuel prices, which many Nigerians say has contributed to rising transportation costs and general economic hardship.

According to the organizers, the protest will take place simultaneously in Lagos, Abuja, Abia State, Ekiti State, and Kano State. The aim of the demonstration is to peacefully express citizens’ concerns about the rising cost of fuel and its impact on daily life.

Organizers have emphasized that the protest is intended to be lawful, orderly, and peaceful, encouraging participants to conduct themselves responsibly and respect public safety. They also stated that the protest is meant to open dialogue with government authorities on ways to address the economic challenges facing many Nigerians.

In Lagos and Abuja, large numbers of participants are expected to gather at designated public locations where speeches and presentations will be made. Community groups in Abia State, Ekiti State, and Kano State have also confirmed their readiness to join the nationwide action.

Security agencies have advised organizers and participants to follow all regulations guiding public gatherings to ensure that the event proceeds without disruption. Authorities have also reassured residents that measures will be in place to maintain peace and order throughout the demonstrations.

Organizers expressed hope that the protest will help draw attention to the economic concerns of citizens while encouraging constructive engagement between the government and the public toward sustainable solutions.

More information about the protest schedule and gathering points is expected to be communicated by the organizers ahead of the planned date. 📰🇳🇬✊
Don't bring that your protest anywhere close to Igboland

When u & your Obidient minded colleagues were supporting Israel & Amelica for starting an unnecessary war, u never for one second thought that it will come back to haunt u abi?

Continue your support for your masters.
So in order words, the Israel & 'amelica' war has exposed the inability of one of the leading countries in crude oil abundance to build a single refinery or even fix the ones already built?

So if the middle east decide to shutdown their products Nigeria, with crude oil abundance, will suffer simply because it's past and present leaders esp your paymaster could not rehabilitate the current refineries or even build new one?

A hilarious reasoning I might say.

That's like rebuking your family members for rejoicing over the closure of restaurants.
You have food ingredients at home but refused to fix or change your gas cooker

Well with the way the thread has gone it's obvious the protest won't be successful

It brakes my heart reading some crazy comments here in support of the government, as if they're not equally affected by this fuel increase. For fvck sake, Nigeria is an oil producing country we shouldn't be suffering like this. The government knows the right thing to do.
