Phyna Calls For Political Action, Questions Lagride Weekly Payment Model by cityboylagos(op): 3:11pm On Mar 12
Reality TV personality Josephina Ijeoma Otabor, popularly known as Phyna, has sparked conversation online after speaking about Nigeria’s economic challenges and questioning the payment structure of the Lagos ride-hailing initiative LagRide.

The former Big Brother Naija winner shared her thoughts in a video posted on social media where she discussed the growing hardship faced by many Nigerians and urged young people to become more politically active ahead of the next general elections. Eyes Of Lagos reports,

In the video, Phyna stressed the importance of political participation, saying Nigerian youths must begin to take governance more seriously ahead of the 2027 Nigerian General Election.

According to her, the rising cost of living has become increasingly difficult for many citizens.

She said the situation has pushed her to speak more openly about governance and policies affecting Nigerians.

Phyna said:

“It is time for a better government. Our vote must count. This is March and we have to start getting angry now. We really have to start getting angry now.”

The reality star also noted that she plans to use her platform to speak on national issues regardless of criticism online.

According to her, many young Nigerians are struggling with rising rent, transportation costs, and the general cost of living.

Phyna also questioned the payment terms associated with the Lagos ride-hailing project LagRide, which was introduced by the Lagos State Government to create employment opportunities and modernize the ride-hailing sector.

She explained that she had initially considered assisting some individuals by paying the reported entry fee required to join the scheme.

However, she said she became concerned after hearing that drivers may be required to remit about ₦450,000 weekly for the vehicles provided under the program.

According to her, the amount appears too high, especially considering competition from other ride-hailing platforms operating in Lagos.

Phyna questioned how such a financial requirement could truly help Nigerian youths trying to earn a living.

She asked:

“How are you helping the Nigerian youth with a ₦450,000 weekly drop-off?”

Phyna’s comments have generated mixed reactions on social media.

While some users supported her call for political awareness and youth participation in governance, others debated the accuracy of the figures she mentioned regarding the LagRide payment structure.

The discussion has also sparked wider conversations about job creation programs, economic pressure, and the role of young Nigerians in shaping the country’s political future.

She should focus on retreiving her bbn money
Re: Phyna Calls For Political Action, Questions Lagride Weekly Payment Model by eepeepook: 6:18pm On Mar 12
The thing I like about her is she is the most vocal BBNaija winner. As someone who received support from the grassroots, she’s speaking on behalf of their matters. She may be a millionaire, but she was no different from Nairaland bingos until she turned 25. My problem? Nigerians will fight you if you try to better their condition.

See this comment for example.

It’s the reason why some honest people choose to join the system instead of fruitlessly fighting it.

There has to be this deep sitted igbo hate in yoruba land that tinubu notice and decided to use and drain the bone marrow of yoruba people. Spit

LagRide sound dumb. In branding 101, the business name should be easy to pronounce without holding your breathe.

tinubu is like the devil. He puts one naira in your right hand and collect 10 naira from your left hand.

Participating in politics is not the problem, but how are we sure the youths will do anything different from the generation we are condemning.

A lag ride car is N40m averagely.

This would have been sourced at N40m at 20%/year interest. In 2 years, that would be N56m

How long would it be paid back at N450k/week?

2 years and 4 months.

Note:
The longer the tenure of repayment, the greater the amount of interest paid yearly.

How much is the initial deposit for lagride?
Re: Phyna Calls For Political Action, Questions Lagride Weekly Payment Model by erad(m): 6:44pm On Mar 12
What sort of emotional nonsense is this?

What research have you done to warrant this outburst? You didn't state the average amount made by the drivers weekly and contrast it against what they are asked to pay. This payment plan has been active for years, has any driver come out to complain? They agreed to the payment plan, or didn't they consider the feasibility of what they agreed to?

You're talking about getting angry, what does that solve? Why does everything have to be aggression? If you want to be an emergency activist, at least be sensible about it.

Exactly my point.
Every successive government/generation has proven to be worse than the previous.

Especially in Naija.

Hmmmm.

I understand and validate your statement. I also don't feel it makes sense.

There has to be a hidden benefit that they derive from it, I guess.

Maybe people who collect it know that they will change the color and turn it into a personal car after the 2½ years.

450K/ weekly is about 64K+/daily.

How much is a drop in Lagos?

10 rides can fetch that amount plus!

It's a free market. Other players are free to run the same business model at a 'fairer' rate. undecided

Her problems are many:

BBN money is gone.

No marketable Career.

Fresher girls have taken over in her industry (Olos.....).

Noise did not yield money from Dangote.

Economy is biting hard.

Is e-hailing taxi kabu kabu?
Is airport taxi kabu kabu?

Daily remittance is about 64K plus. Bolt drivers make way more than that daily.

With dedication and hardwork, the driver gets to own the car in 2 years plus.

This is the breakthrough that most drivers pray for.

Her contribution seem ridiculous and a mockery of her gender.. Who in their normal sense would believe that a transport sector with such competition and traffic blessed place like Lagos will give you such target of 450k weekly... That's clout in the extreme...
