how on earth is don jazzy Igbo? Don jazzy is an itsekiri man from delta state. It’s like the Yorubas saying burna boy is Yoruba despite his name being Yoruba.
If e no Dey e no Dey, stop forcing people to be Igbo.
Don jazzy is an isoko man not itsekiri

Lol...... Yoruba dey ahead keh? People that are mentally limited by timidity and lack of exposure. You think Lagos is modernized by this kind of group. No, Lagos is a metropolitan state, built, owned and developed collectivelly.[/b]
Oh you think your evaluation truly reflects the value of the Yorubas as a whole? And you think saying things like mentally limited by timidly and exposures can degrade Yoruba’s social and cultural diversity? Wake up from your sleep. I pray someday your have your wish and have a country of your own. We will see how many of you guys can live without other tribes.

because tuface na yoruba? undecided

Afrobeat has more yorubas in it now because of olamide, wizkid and Davido but it was not always dominated by yorubas.

Yes we had dbanj but we also have don jazzy who is igbo. it has always been a mix including some Hausas.

Stop this tribal ignorance..
Don Jazzy is Isoko

He's talking rubbish. Flavour, Phyno, Duncan Mighty etc are proper Igbo men

Even Burna Boy that he called a 'Port Harcourt boy' uses only Yoruba when he pivots to a local language, his folks are old Lagos people. Don Jazzy, arguably the most successful producer in Nigerian history, is Igbo

The music industry is not as clear-cut as he's making it out to be, if you are unable to break in it's because your stuff ain't good enough, not because of Yoruba dominance
Hes talking afrobeatz. Flavour, Phyno are rappers.

And both of them no popular pass Eddie ugbomah
There is a difference between a pioneer and a standout name
Simple
Grandmaster flash is a key pioneer in rap but ask anybody who is the GOAT of rap and his name will not appear in most lists
Dead this argument
This modern NOLLYWOOD is igbo made, igbo dominated and shaped

Lol. Bro, if my tribe leaves Nigeria, even Almajiri will have a better life then your tribe. That's why your elites beg my tribe to stay, because they are more wiser than most of you who don't know nothing of the blessings we are to this nation.

Now make I shock you, if my tribe go, hausas will invade you guys and take all your regions. We are what is deterring them from doing so because they they fear and respect us more than your tribe, despite that your ppl still have Muslims.

Make your research and come back to me here, sir.

Go to any country in the world
Call Aki and PawPaw and everyone will know who you are talking about
Now call any yoruba actor and see people ask you who you are referring to
Fact is not debatable
The modern Nollywood is Igbo made and Igbo dominated
So people knowing AKI and paw paw of eaely 2000s made you people dominate nollywood grin

You people and grandiose delusion

Timaya had a break through too, he is from bayeksa,
For me i think this music thing has evolve, there was a time when the music industry in nigeria was dominated by artist from the south south, especialy from delta, people like, daddy showkey, baba frayo, blacky, oriz wiliki, mike okri, just to mention a few, even during the time of konto, and galala, south south dominated.
But now the yorubas dominate afrobeat while the igbos domiinate nollywood,
Things change, the only thing thats constant is change.
Those people you mentioned came from SouthSouth but grew up in Ajegunle or relocated to lagos.

Fact is fact, no matter how it is twisted. Before Living in Bondage, There were already several celluloid film makers in the southwest like Hubert Ogunde, Duro Ladipupo, Moses Olaiya (Baba Sala) etc. Yoruba culture aligns with parties and entertainment on weekends, hence why there are more successful traditional musicians always busy on weekends. Even the mushroom ones.
Yorubas patronize musicians and entertainment generally much more than other tribes in Nigeria due to cultural reasons.

I'm not forcing anyone to be igbo I genuinely thought he was igbo but thanks for the correction.

The point I wanted to make is he's not Yoruba.

Re: Omah Lay Says Afrobeats Is Dominated By Yorubas And Lagos Music Industry by Lyricalz01: 8:33pm On Mar 13
Christlike01:
Which Igbo people are supposedly “dominating” Nollywood? Please, let’s deal with facts instead of comforting myths.

First, the richest and most commercially successful actress in Nigeria today is Funke Akindele—a Yoruba woman. She isn’t just successful; she has practically turned the Nigerian box office into her personal playground. Her film A Tribe Called Judah became the first Nollywood movie to cross the ₦1-billion mark at the Nigerian box office. Before that, she already broke records with Omo Ghetto: The Saga and Battle on Buka Street. In other words, the same Yoruba actress keeps breaking the records over and over again. And that’s just one person.

Look at the films dominating streaming platforms. Movies rooted in Yoruba history and culture like Jagun Jagun and Aníkúlápó have pulled massive global audiences and trended internationally.

Then look at the powerhouse filmmakers behind many of these successes—people like Kunle Afolayan, Femi Adebayo, Odunlade Adekola, and Toyin Abraham—all major drivers of Nollywood’s most commercially successful productions.

So again, which “Igbo domination” are we talking about? When the biggest box-office records are being set by Yoruba filmmakers, when Yoruba cultural epics are dominating cinemas and streaming platforms, and when some of the industry’s most influential stars are Yoruba, the claim that Igbo people dominate Nollywood starts to sound less like a fact and more like wishful thinking.

Keep living in your own illusion, the fact still remains

Let’s be honest: Nollywood is a national industry with contributions from many groups. But if we’re talking about box-office power, cultural influence, and record-breaking productions, the Yoruba footprint is simply impossible to match by the igbos.

So please—stop deceiving yourself. The scoreboard is right there for everyone to see.
