iwaeda:So you are saying that Tinubu was right in 2012 to.oppose subsidy removal.? Ok o. Mock the government, Yes , but don't be contradicting yourself |

Itiskdg121:To maintain it at 65 naira, government subsidy costs went up three times from 2010-11. That meant that money was taken from the reserve and other segments of the budget to pay for the subsidy Meaning that government then had to borrow to fill the resulting deficit. That's why by 2011.ending, GEJ wanted to remove subsidy, but you people said no. So spending continued until 2022, when the debt was eating 90% of our revenue. Until May 2023 when government was forced to remove subsidy. You guys should know that nothing is cheap. If someone is giving you something for one naira, that actually costs 70 naira, ya think say the money go disappear like that? |

billgabb:I agree with you, but if Tinubu brings back subsidy, the debt resulting will come back to deal with us in ways we don't like |

adenigga:Because we are an oil dependent country with most ot our government revenue coming from less than 2 million BPD. Which is inadequate for a nation our size. Even if we somehow eliminated corruption decades ago By rights we should be running a diversified economy dependent on industrial production with a well taxed GDP. That we are not is indicative of past and present government incompetence. And people wanting to live like the Saudis because we are an oil producing nation. And corruption |

When fuel rose to N1,300 during the subsidy removal, transport fare was increased, then the fuel dropped to 980, transport fare didn't drop. Then it now rose back to the same N1,300, so why are they increasing the fare? What went wrong? |
