Moving him wide can reduce that central occupation Arsenal rely on.

Regarding Noni Madueke, yes he’s naturally stronger attacking from the right. But coaches sometimes deploy wingers on the opposite side for specific tactical reasons — for example to attack the half-space, drive inside onto the stronger foot, or press certain build-up lanes from the opponent. It’s not always about the player’s comfort zone; it’s about the collective structure.

On the midfield point, managing players like Martín Zubimendi also involves rhythm and chemistry. If he’s the primary 6 in the system, the coaching staff may want continuity in that role so the team’s build-up patterns stay consistent. Rotating in someone like Christian Nørgaard or Myles Lewis‑Skelly isn’t just about rest — it can change the tempo of circulation, pressing triggers, and defensive positioning.

Squad depth is definitely important, but rotation also depends on game context, tactical plan, and training performance during the week. From the outside it can look like players are being “frozen out,” but internally coaches are balancing fitness data, tactical cohesion, and opponent analysis before making those calls.

So the decisions might not always look obvious to fans, but at that level they’re usually tied to a very specific game model rather than just positional preference.
