I attended a church last Sunday, and the pastor announced that members should prepare for pastor feeding offerings before the last Sunday of the month. I asked the guy I went with if that is normal, he said yes. Every last Sunday of the month, every member is expected to bring raw foods like; garri, yams live chickens, beans, rice and bunches of plantain, some even donates live goats. And these is beside the monetary donation they make. Here comes my questions, are church leaders supposed to live off of their members? Is it a Biblical thing? |

There is a popular Pentecostal Church ("Somebody shout Halleluya") that does what they call pastors welfare offering or ministers welfare offering once every month. When a jobless person that manages to buy a big bible tells you that God has called him into a full-time ministry, the person will be depending on church members to feed, using the Bible that says that a prophet shall feed from his job. This is why many of them claim to be prophets, seeing and saying rubbish and misleading their gullible followers. |

Jesus fed the congregation, pastors should feed their members. The only time Jesus requested for food from his congregation, it was not to feed himself but the thousands who he had gathered to teach the words of his father Pastoring should not be a means of eluding unemployment. |

Even apostle Paul turn a tent maker at market places just to feed himself. Since he does not want to be a burden to congregation he visits. When you understand the Bible to a large extent no one can brainwash you. |

CodeTemplarr:I don't think bringing in Jesus as reference is logical. Jesus didn't set up church. |

Very wrong for you to feed your pastor,it's a heartbreak what we have in Nigeria and Africa at large on the issues of the church. Pastors should have their means of income even the 12 disciples of Jesus were doing something meaningful with their lives before Christ called them. Although offerings and tithes by members should be forwarded to the growth of the church |

If that is what the church (religion) you prefer mandated then you are sinning against God for disobeying what they're practicing. No one is forcing you to be there so if you are not comfortable with what they believe then take your leave and find a church (religion) that suits your thinking.😟 |
