One of the few films with really deep themes of family trauma, loneliness and uncomfortable topic like suicide.

I nearly swear for the director of this film at that end.....only to realise it was a scene for Stellan Skaarsgard's character directorial movie.
Top top film. Top tier acting from the main actors.

It is a story that revolves around a lady and her estranged father who's a director. Follows through with her anxiety and relationships with her career, co-workers and family.

One great film with a mass of beautiful ladies. Elle Fanning looking good with great acting, special kudos to Renate Reinsve. The first time I saw her name 2/3 years ago I hated her even tho I haven't seen her face before or even watched her perform. But after seeing her today...... Her acting talent isn't in doubt. Top top performance.

How can I forget Inga Ibsdotter Lilleas.... She's got one of the most beautiful set of eyes I've ever seen on a woman. Not to take away from her acting chops as she was a scene stealer in most of the scenes she was in. Her facial expression, the mannerisms...damn.
I'm hoping to see more of her.

Stellan Skaarsgard continues to prove why he's an Odogwu. And the director Joachim Trier set up a powerful trio of actresses to anchor this movie. Top notch storytelling.

It's one of those films you watch during your quiet moments for reflection on life and your life choices. It is subtle but works in a powerful way because it is personal and intimate. The story holds great sentimental value.

First off, "Sentimental Value" is such a cool cool name for a film!.

Secondly, This was perhaps, one of my best watch of 2025, if not the best...

I'd always thought Gustav was selfish, using the guise of "pursuing his craft", to leave his family but at the end of it, all, i could see he was dealing with some deep seated unresolved emotional trauma, that came with that "damn house ", so he wasn't just leaving his family, he wanted to get away from the house...

The house really was the "Sentimental Value" because of all the memory, loss, guilt and family history it held.

Stellan Skarsgård as Gustav Borg, was such a gem performance, and should rightly get that Oscar tomorrow. Renate Reinsve getting best actress is such a tough ask, because Jess Buckley and Emma Stone did absolutely madness in Hamlet (2025) and Bugonia (2025) respectively, but i am rooting for her still.

Top shelf film this 👍🏿

One of the best names for a film I've ever seen. Simple, yet powerful and deep.
If Renate Reinsve wins it, I wouldn't really be mad.
But I'm rooting for Jessie Buckley. She takes the cake for me. That performance was career defining. Funny thing was while watching the film, within the first 35 mins or so, I kept thinking about Hamnet. Cos you could see the similarities and brilliance all the same. The pain and sorrow of tortured minds.
That house and it's history wanted to kpai everybody by all means.

Great film. For male actors, yeah, Stellan Skaarsgard can get it. Exquisite performance. These two films have produced some of the best performances of the year, and I hope they win big not the pandering duo they want to serve us with.

Isn't this Renate Reinsve that caused brouhaha two or three years ago at the Oscars because she came in from nowhere and got a nomination? With peeps being angered she was favoured by nepotism cos during the campaigns her name never even came up once until the final week.
