Whether they pay was high or low depends on the period. There was a time that 20 naira was greater than 5 million naira of today.
Yes daddy! Do you need a microscope, telescope or binoculars to see the payslip undecided undecided

When you allow crooks to take over the reigns of power and to go further to dominate officialdom for ages, they will create a non merit system that prioritises the emergence of the illiterates, the brutes and the corrupts, against the scholars, the hardworkers and they skilled. Ultimately the society will decay in the long run because there is no single example of any society that has thrived and succeeded by doing violence to merit..
None!

Think about that with Nigerias current situation in your mind...

I normally will not respond to you because seeing your language, I can tell you have not achieved the status of having decent conversation and exchange of messages on the internet. Nevertheless, for those who have the mindset of yours, try to read the non-monetary benefits before arriving at a conclusion. Most of your senators and house of reps members don't earn a great salary but their benefits are something else. If you all target their salaries to come down, they will be happy to make it look like a sacrifice but those who ask questions and think about the big picture know where the money is made from.

Don't just respond to attack, respond to inquire and make sound judgement. Do not bother replying me as I do not have the bandwidth for this. Please consider this my polite withdrawal from the circus.
I share in your view. I have two people under my employment in a new startup. Basic salary is forty k. Payslip only reflects this 40k o.

What else do they get? Each person gets 5k weekly transportation allowance and 1k daily to buy snacks. And their task typically starts around 9am and ends by 1pm. Strictly Mondays to Fridays. No weekends at all. Let me not forget to state that it is basic clerical task. Meanwhile they are SSCE holders.

You see that second part I mentioned, it is not documented o. Now calculate everything, nor be 80k or more we dey look so each month? Well, I think the so-called lecturer deliberately hides other pecks that go with the job in order to paint a picture that suits his narrative. Quite unfortunate.

I am not going to defend anyone but I know lecturers get some extra benefits. I am wondering why a lecturer will post his payslip, your personal information to prove what point? Back to the extra benefits, one of them will be housing. I don't know what the accommodation was. Some schools have staff quarters which is housing benefit and when people compare salaries, they forget that part. If you have children, they may go to that school free as a staff.

Their academic calendars typically include long breaks between semesters. Although lecturers still do some work during these periods, they usually have more downtime than many corporate roles. Compared with many private-sector jobs, lecturers may teach only a few hours per week. Much of the rest of the time can be self-scheduled. Outside exam periods, schedules can be relatively flexible.

Lecturers often have access to sports centers, libraries, staff clubs, campus transportation systems and other amenities that are usually free or very inexpensive.

When people compare lecturers’ salaries to private-sector salaries in Nigeria, they often ignore the cost savings from housing, schooling, healthcare, and utilities. Those benefits can reduce major household expenses that private-sector workers typically pay fully out of pocket.

Oyepedo who normally is a ruthless shrew. I remember when I was been wooed to come and become a full time pastor there in 2020-21, I just laughed when I heard the terms the church as was proposing for those pastors and they were looking for graduates specifically o.
pastoring should be free service, anyone who is being paid to be a pastor and who ever is paying him to be a pastor are both business men

My cousin donated all his lunch money to Living Faith University building project , he even carried fund raising forms around because they were told the university would be for church members , that was the first scam Demola was a victim of, you don’t scam with Gods name , Demola is still alive today and will bear me witness if living faith sue me for this post

Although the pay is very poor. But also check the payslip very well, the man took a salary advance of about 30k plus other deductions, which were removed from his take-home. So he was actually earning around 170K.

A former lecturer of Covenant University, who also has a PhD, has taken to social media to mention his salary The experienced individual took to his media page to engage in discussion and also share his payslip The amount he mentioned as his salary caught the attention of many people, who took to the comments page to react.

A former lecturer of Covenant University, who also has a PhD, has captured people's attention after disclosing the amount he was paid as salary despite his degree and qualifications.

The brilliant individual backed up his claim with a photo, which serves as evidence of the amount he was paid as salary and the specific year

Former Covenant University displays his payslip His statement shows that he currently does not work with the institution, as he referred to the school in the past tense.

@Engrbimmy wrote on his social media page: "I looked at my payslip (with Ph.D) from when I was a Lecturer at Covenant University, and I started crying."

By revealing the amount he was paid in the viral post, many on social media found his statement hard to believe. An individual, @MrPharm_, asked what year the lecturer taught at Covenant University or the year he was paid the said amount he mentioned. To prove his statement is true, @Engrbimmy replied with proof from his PayPal.

A statement to further prove that he received the amount he mentioned as salary in January 2024. Legit.ng reached out to the individual for comments, but he has not responded at the time of writing this report. His post about Covenant University has since gone viral, with many people talking about it online.

I did not carefully look at the payslip to spot the year. You will be right if you blame me for not paying attention to the details on the pay slip. But my comment is not wrong. I said that whether the payment is poor or high depends on the period. Since he was earning the amount in 2024, the pay was too poor.

It is obvious you have problem with comprehension.

I repeat " Although the salary is VERY POOR" , but from the Payslip, it is obvious the man collected salary advance of about 30k plus other deductions. So his salary should be around N170k"

So , go back and tell me where I justified the poor salary.

Nothing is shameful in my comment. My comment would have been shameful if the year the man earnes the money was part of the caption of the post. My comment would have been shameful if I tried to deny the fact that I didn't pay attention to the pay slip. As the first responder pointed out the year the salary was earned, I quickly admitted that the pay was poor. Now, can you point out what is shameful in my comment?

They want you to remain as poor as the donkey so that you will keep working for them not thinking or contemplating to go open your own institutions of learning.
Better go start your own business no matter how little the starting capital is.
Remember,the Bible says 'don't despise a little beginning '.
As water drops little by little an ocean is formed.
Now is the time for you to quit that job that enslaves you and then go start your own business.

Transport is good if organised. In Nigeria you need to be strong to do transport business.

josielewa:
THIS IS WHY I USUALLY SAY THERE ARE SOME SECTORS IN NIGERIAN ECONOMY THAT PAYS WELL. PEOPLE USUALLY UNDERRATE SUCH SECTORS. EXAMPLE IS THE TRANSPORTATION SECTOR THAT YOU JUST MENTIONED. IF YOU KNOW WHAT YOU ARE DOING IN THE INTERSTATE TRANSPORTATION SECTOR, YOU WILL MAKE MORE MONEY THAN 60% OF THOSE ON SUIT AND TIE...
