Ignore Naysayers, Invest In Mutual Funds Today - GTB Paid Me N120K In February by damiloladuke(op):
I have been dishing out a lot of free information on how mutual funds can serve as a fuel to power your future, but a lot of people have been coming up with conflicting stories on how inflation will make your money valueless in the future.

The question I ask most of them is this "Will you advise your young ones to rather keep their money idle in the bank or invest gradually to at least get something in the future?" There arguments always focus on how tens of millions will be valueless in 20-30 years to this time. Do they even realize N500k is valueless now, but it's still luxury to millions of Nigerians.

See, I'm a Crypto enthusiast and I've been in crypto since 2014. I've made a lot of money from it. But 2025 shook me due to Trump's policies. I lost millions. When I had my baby last year, I thought of investing the cash gifts we got and I decided crypto is a No No, so I turned to mutual funds even though the returns is just around 18-20% annually (Money Market Fund)

It was around December last year that I decided to explore the other available options under the mutual funds, then I tried out the Equity Income Fund option (though it carries a higher risk cuz it pays a higher interest) Interest can sometimes be up to 100% in a year, but your investment fluctuates, unlike Money Market Fund which is a guaranteed option.

But now the interesting thing is that since I moved most of my funds to the Equity Income Funds option, it has always been adding up. Of course there are days that I see loss, but it's always minimal. In fact, in February alone, I received profit up to N120K with a capital of N1,180,000. So by February ending, my fund was N1.3M. I added extra N300K to boost my portfolio to N1.6M

As at this moment now, it has added extra 15K to my funds. The fun part however is that your interest is reinvested almost immediately and this yields you additional profits which if compounded over the years, turn into something massive.

The strategy however is to mix your funds in both MMF and Equity Income Funds in a 30:70 ratio.

See, with this opportunity you can even start planning for your children's future education and even leave some money to them when you leave.

For those talking about inflation, Bla Bla Bla I'm sure you've heard of diversification. This won't be the only investment bucket you put your money in. In fact, what I also do is buy landed properties and plan to leave for next 20-30 years. With that you can sell your land at the future value, which will of course translates to lots of gains.

📍 Note: I'm not a financial adviser. I Just thought I could help some young folks today with this information I missed in my 30s. In fact I was shocked when I heard my old, rich landlord talking about mutual funds, which means he must have started investing in that many decades ago.

Don't miss the opportunity. Most banks offer asset management services. Talk to your banker and the interesting part is you can invest with as little as N5, 000 weekly or monthly, even right on your phone.

Let's assume I start a business like a provision shop that could grow into a supermarket, don't you think you could make higher profits in a year compared to this mutual funds? Or even if it's farming you're investing in?

I started mine in 2018
Since that I have received over 3m in investment of 2.5m

There is one finance theory called The Rule of 72, money doubling factor. The money market mutual funds will help you to achieve this consistently

Interesting... Invest naija Offers dollar funds, paramount equity funds, mutual funds and bonds funds .. if you're a conservative investor and doesn't want to risk your initial capital but want to rely heavily on compounding; Mutual funds and bonds funds are it... Infact I saw a compounding cheat somewhere on this forum where if you were in your 30s and saved 5k and above each month for 30 years, you'd have saved 100m. Now compare that to how much you spend daily? Some of us have blown away our rich lifestyle decades ago, it's not too late to start over though 🤔

Most Equity Funds returned on the average 70-90% in 2025. How can you be using a 10 year old data to make a current projection.

Of course no one is expecting to see profit forever. Remember, equity funds are invested in the stock market, so when stocks do well, equity funds also do well

True @bold
This last cryptto cycle made me realize the importance of diversification. I over invested in cryptto all through 2024 to 2025 because we all saw Trump as cryptto Messiah, I never knew he was coming to ruin cryptto. Diversification is very important in investment.

I used that to pass the message that d near 100% annual returns is not always like that or even usual at all.. to be clear, it's majorly cos of the high inflation rate... the value of businesses(that survive inflation)go up as the prices of things go up-( which makes costs, revenues, profits to also go up)
