Why Many Hardworking Nigerians Are Still Struggling Financially by InsightByOlamid(op): 12:44pm On Mar 09
Hello everyone,
I want to have a real conversation today, one-on-one, like we’re just sitting over coffee. ☕

Have you ever wondered why so many hardworking Nigerians. I mean people who wake up early, work late, and never miss a task—still struggle financially?

It’s not because they are lazy or unlucky. Honestly, it’s more complicated than that. Let’s break it down.

1️⃣ Hard Work Alone Doesn’t Pay the Bills🤧
Many of us were taught that if you work hard, success will come. But in today’s economy, working hard in a job or small business without a proper financial strategy doesn’t automatically lead to wealth.

2️⃣ Financial Education Gap
Knowing how to make money isn’t enough. You need to know how to manage, grow, and protect it. Most of us were never taught this in school, so even with a decent income, money slips away faster than it comes.

3️⃣ High Cost of Living & Inflation📈
Even when you’re consistent, rising food, transport, rent, and school fees make it hard to save. You could be earning, but the pressure of expenses keeps you in the struggle.

4️⃣ Lack of Multiple Income Streams
Relying on just one source of income today is risky. Many Nigerians haven’t explored side hustles, investments, or digital opportunities that could give them financial breathing space.

5️⃣ Comparison & Pressure
Social media shows everyone living “perfect lives,” and we try to match that lifestyle. This can force even hardworking people to spend beyond their means, digging themselves deeper financially.

So, what can we do?🤔
I’m curious to know your thoughts. How have you personally managed these challenges? Do you have strategies that work for you? Or do you feel stuck no matter how hard you work?
Drop your honest experiences below 👇
Let’s discuss openly. I promise, no judgment just normal conversation ☺️

Some people are not just destined to be wealthy.

I strongly disagree with you. Everyone was born with the power of greatness. Executing that potential lie in you.

If u don't have additional income by way of investing and setting aside something from ur salary on a monthly basis until it becomes a handful...u can never get ahead in this life

Many people do not understand the power of gradual savings and investing. If u expect to make it very big, honestly u will never make it.

I started with small salary of 45k in 2012,I continued until my salary got to 78k net and I left that job and moved to another job where my salary was even far less, that is about 53k just because it's a secured job. Now,I earn 280k gross which is still very small considering that I have four children and a wife to feed as well.

But to shock u,out of those earnings,I started a business by the side, and that business brings in 10million and above as a profit monthly. I know u may not believe me,I haven't earn 500k salary in my whole life before. But I personally utilised the principle of gradualism to build myself a side income that takes care of my family now and always,I have registered my company we are tax compliant.

Don't expect one big money anywhere my brother, rather start building urs now,at first it can never be easy but pursue it with stoic and determination,u will get there.

Lastly,if u are not financially discipline...there is nothing u can do to attain financial freedom.

All the best.

Dont be...in seven years time,I shall be making 360million per annum and that is because many of us don't ever believe in ourselves.

Yes,it can never be easy to pull this through...if I tell u all the story u will end up wondering further how I did it.

My brother, avoided so many things...during my time in the bank,I used to eat once a day just for me to save something reasonable at the end of the month.

I avoided dating because I knew it would take money away from me...and equally avoided parties, birthdays invitations all because I was on a mission.

I was consistent beyond words...I realised early how saving and investing can turn ones life around quickly and fast only if u believe.

Irrespective of ur background start early and u will see the miracle of compounding and exponential growth in all u do.

Finally,I don't believe in huge amount of money...I believe in gradual process of making money and that has been my secret according to the book of proverbs 13:11

I am a living proof.
