Lamido Rallies Support For Wike-backed PDP Caretaker Committee by seunmsg(op): 4:04pm On Mar 15
Former Jigawa State governor and founding member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Sule Lamido, has urged members of the party to rally behind the caretaker committee linked to Nyesom Wike and embrace reconciliation to prevent the crisis within the opposition party from deepening.

Lamido made the call while addressing journalists during a Ramadan Iftar with PDP leaders and members in his hometown of Bamaina in Jigawa State. He said the party must focus on restoring unity rather than prolonging internal disputes that could weaken its political relevance.

Describing Wike as a politically strategic actor, Lamido said the minister capitalised on the leadership vacuum that emerged after the tenure of the party’s National Working Committee expired.

According to him, the caretaker structure supported by Wike became the only functional leadership arrangement available at the time the vacuum occurred.

“Wike is a very shrewd politician. He saw the situation clearly and moved quickly to establish a caretaker committee. By the time the tenure of the existing leadership elapsed, that was the only structure in place,” Lamido said.

While acknowledging that many party members may disagree with Wike politically, Lamido stressed that the survival of the party requires dialogue and compromise among its stakeholders.

“Even if some of us may not like him or have political differences with him, we must still invite him in the spirit of unity, brotherhood and PDP sisterhood. The priority now is reconciliation and moving the party forward,” he said.

Lamido expressed concern over the persistent internal wrangling within the party and the wave of defections that have unsettled its ranks in recent times. He warned that prolonged leadership disputes could undermine the party’s preparedness for future elections.

The former governor also cautioned that Nigeria’s electoral timelines leave little room for prolonged political crises within parties, noting that delays in resolving leadership issues could affect candidate nominations and other critical preparations.

Reflecting on the significance of the Ramadan season, Lamido said the holy month offers an opportunity for reflection, forgiveness and reconciliation among party members.

He emphasised that the PDP remains a collective institution that belongs to all its members and should not be treated as the property of any individual or faction.

Lamido therefore urged party leaders to rise above personal interests, reconcile their differences and work together to rebuild the party.

“Our duty now is to protect the heritage of the PDP and ensure the party remains strong enough to serve Nigerians,” he said.

Fergie001 and other PDP supporters, this is the only reasonable option available for PDP’s survival at this point in time. Emotions don’t cut it in politics. It’s a game of pragmatism. Rally round the Wike faction so that other candidates down the ballot can survive.

In Chaba's voice. Iyooooo

I said it last year that the best thing for Pdp and LP is to form a coalition with Apc for the 2027 election. They have nothing to lose in doing thst

I believe Lamido is working for asiwaju. He's positioning for 2031 when presidency returns to the north. Lamido will defect to the apc long before then. This I've seen grin cheesy (in false prophet's voice) grin

All these in preparatory for 2031 Presidential election. I seriously doubt Asiwaju will be able to play any significant role in who succeed him in 2031.

In the build up to the 2023 general election, Sule Lamido was on every platform saying all sorts about Wike.

Now the same man is singing Wike praises.

In all this PDP crisis, I blame Atiku. Man is so overrated. Only a hungry asslicker is still with Atiku. The man has fallen so badly that he's so ashamed to stand up

How can a man who once fought the famous OBJ sit down, fold his arms and allow Wike, a baby politician turn PDP to his personal property?

Atiku is so useless and shameless

Even when he was not holding any political position, he imposed Buhari on Atiku and other Charlatans against their wish. When he was not holding any political position, he imposed himself on 220 million Nigerians against their wish wish of a minority Obidients and the Buhari kitchen cabal. Is it now that he is the President that some Almajaris will stop him from “appointing” and “imposing” his successor?

After GEJ lost his re-election bid, it was Wike and Fayose who picked up the party, financed it, and reorganised it. Where was Atiku then? He was in APC, went to hustle for the presidential ticket with Buhari. Even Makinde was in SDP at the time.
Wike and Fayose have invested in the PDP, which is why they cannot be taken for granted now.

Now that Sule Lamido has played ball and capitulated, watch the recent arraignment of himself and his son die a natural death. This is the democracy under the "democracy fighters".

And by his comments this is the only shrewd pdp stakeholder left I guess and i pray they dont listen to him. grin and so continue to be angry that Wike is their master and then fight themselves the more and after the dust settle, Wike and his men would remain standing.

Who is ready to finance the dead party. For PDP to come back they need 3 governor from South South and at least 7 state from north maybe 3 state from south east.

Lol. Let's compare notes after 2027 elections. Tinubu's strategy of coercion can only give him a false sense of support. Time is a gentleman.
Re: Lamido Rallies Support For Wike-backed PDP Caretaker Committee by SixSeven: 3:25am On Mar 16
I don't regard these politicians especially the Amaechi and Tambuwall set. In fact, the ADC is just PDP and its betrayers who gave up their party through nPDP, including Atiku but you have to give it to them that they knew the party was compromised so rather than keep pretending about it, they went to setup ADC.

Wike and Fayose have invested in the PDP, which is why they cannot be taken for granted now.
Wike clearly remained influential and supportive of the party after 2015.
But the claim that Wike and Fayose “picked up and financed PDP” alone is exaggerated.

After Goodluck Jonathan lost the 2015 Nigerian presidential election, the Peoples Democratic Party became an opposition party. At that time Atiku Abubakar was not in PDP. He had left in 2014 to join the All Progressives Congress, where he contested the presidential primary but lost to Muhammadu Buhari. He remained in APC until November 2017, when he returned to the PDP.

It is also correct that Seyi Makinde was not in PDP in 2015. He contested the 2015 Oyo governorship election under the Social Democratic Party before later joining PDP and winning the governorship in 2019. However, the suggestion that only Nyesom Wike and Ayodele Fayose “picked up and financed the PDP” after 2015 leaves out several other PDP governors and leaders who were in the party during the opposition years. These included Ifeanyi Okowa (Delta), Udom Emmanuel (Akwa Ibom), Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi (Enugu), Okezie Ikpeazu (Abia), Darius Ishaku (Taraba), Ibrahim Dankwambo (Gombe), and later Samuel Ortom and Bukola Saraki who returned to PDP in 2018. Okowa would later go on to contest as VP with Atiku and we know why.

Is Sule Lamido indirectly accepting to work with Tinubu, cos conceding to Wike is tantamount to working for Tinubu?

Wike's goal is to secure the votes for Tinubu with the PDP platform

The Wike faction has been recognized by INEC based on a clear court order. The faction has also recently conducted ward and state congresses all over the country. They will conduct their national convention by the end of the month. They are fully set for the 2027 general elections.
