Like I said the school is trying and just because he has a better job now does not mean he should badmouth the place that gave him an opportunity in his career journey.

This is truly disheartening...133.000 naira is equivalent to 51.000 CFA francs in Cameroon. I pay each of my four delivery agents 100.000 francs CFA per month + a daily allowance of 1.000. In Naira terms it means I pay each of them 251.000 monthly + 25.000 Naira extra for daily allowance.

I have a PhD in Pharmacognosy. Mind you I wouldn't even consider Naira 3 million for a starting monthly salary.

I work in a federal university (a very popular one). The payslip you see up there is genuine, real, and the truth. Federal Universities are a little higher by 3k. So, a Lecturer II earns 136k. As a Lecturer II, I earned 136k. Nothing more, nothing less! For those saying lecturers have other benefits that translate to extra income, you all are jokers o! There's not a penny extra anywhere. At Lecturer l (after 3 years, with more publications) your salary moves to 156k, and after an additional 3 years with more publications (12 minimum) you're promoted to a senior Lecturer and salary moves to 270k or 300k if you've accumulated more years on the previous level. A professors net salary is between 380k - 420k. That's the peak. ASUU has been fighting and trying to educate the public to no avail. The salary is miserable. Anyways, I resigned I happily left the poverty stricken system!

The truth is a lecturer looks beyond financial gain with the ability to pass on knowledge being of utmost zeal. Frankly even at a starting salary of 2.5 million I wouldn't consider a lecturer's job. Kudos to you and others for the impact you make in the educational sector.

I run a small consultancy equally involved in the production of science based herbal products. The average unskilled worker takes home at least 275.000 Naira. They do need to start calling me Baba Mi.. 😂

Many Professors in Nigeria don't even earn up to 500k sef if not for this new increment

For perspective i currently think Covenant University school fees is cheap for a University of that standard, on the average Bsc should be around 1.7m per annum now. Now read the above sentence again.

Is that Lecturer 2 or Lecturer 1 on that payslip?

Before this new FG-ASUU agreement, Professor in Nigerian university was earning 300k+

He is not paid because he has PhD . He is paid based on his lecturer rank.

Private Universities are mandated to pay at least the CONUASS SCALE by NUC and not below that. The guy in question must have been recently employed as Lect II or just got promoted from AL to lecturer II. The same cry of Public universities was also getting to the private University staff, but they can't protest or join unions. I'm sure people will understand why ASUU was crying that Professors take home was less than 450k back then.
