In conflict, you determine what you do, it's not your call to decide how your opponent reacts when you attack them. You can't slap someone and still think you can decide how they cry. You might have military might but lack a winning strategy. They really underestimated these people. The worst person to pick a fight with is someone who has been stretched thing through prolonged hardship (sanctions). That would be a fight to finish because they've seen it all. Nothing you can use to scare or threaten them anymore.
