Ride Hailing Drivers Shut Down Operations Over Low Fares by ebiye55(op): 8:11am On Mar 16
App-based drivers in Lagos and Ogun states, under the umbrella of the Amalgamated Union of App-Based Transporters of Nigeria, have shut down ride-hailing services over alleged low fares and rising operational costs.

In a notice issued to drivers, partners and fleet owners and signed by the union’s secretary, Comrade Yusuf Bamidele, on Sunday, the shutdown is expected to run from 5:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. on Monday.

The union also urged members to log out of all ride-hailing platforms during the period and refrain from accepting or completing trips.

Drivers were further encouraged to ask their colleagues to participate in solidarity while ensuring the action remains peaceful, disciplined and professional.

According to the union, the shutdown is aimed at drawing attention to several challenges confronting app-based drivers across the country.

This is to formally remind all app-based drivers, driver partners and fleet owners of the mega shutdown scheduled to take place on Monday, March 16, 2026, from 5:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m.

“This coordinated action is organised by the Amalgamated Union of App-Based Transporters of Nigeria as part of a collective effort to address pressing issues affecting the welfare and sustainability of app-based transport operations.

Does Indrive have an office in Nigeria?
No office no operation . Govt should do something about that app
Re: Ride Hailing Drivers Shut Down Operations Over Low Fares by Pearl1910: 11:51am On Mar 16
The protest should reach all App coys offices.
If Indrive doesn't have an office, that app should be shut down by the govt.

Okay ooh!!! We all dey hear grin

I hope person no go blame Iran but rather the government. huh

And when I mean the government, I mean people in charge of that jurisdiction!!!

I don't want to hear the President or Tinubu. There are ministries in charge of this thing, like the transportation companies.

This is pretty much how the gig economy was built to work.

It’s unfortunate, but it’s the reality. Platforms like Uber never really encouraged people to depend on them as their main income, and legally they’ve covered their bases.

Some drivers are still out working though (I’m literally in a Bolt right now). Hopefully the strike leads to something, but the glory days of Uber as a solid income source seem to be fading.

Indrive is a thief , they will be stealing money from drivers wallets in disguise for commission removal
Re: Ride Hailing Drivers Shut Down Operations Over Low Fares by shortgun(m): 2:10pm On Mar 16
They didn't make any noise when they were cashing out.
Then they were feeling pompous and arrogant, telling the whole world how they are earning more than bankers and other salary earners
Re: Ride Hailing Drivers Shut Down Operations Over Low Fares by Albinoflash(m): 2:11pm On Mar 16
Let's blame the government guys,if the companies increase the fair, most People will avoid rides and the current price doesn't even favor the drivers I remembered 2023 immediately tinubu took over and declared subsidy gone and bolt increased their prices to meet up with the current economy conditions as at that time, most people ran away from using bolt platforms, infact as a bolt driver then I hardly get 5 rides for a while day until Indrive lured most passengers to their app with ridiculous prices and drivers who needs to run there families too had to follow up, Nigerians can't survive ehailing with the current pump price and with the economy in this terrible mess

I listened to their regional chairman on radio (Nigeria Info FM) this morning and I think their complaints and agitations against these e-hailing app companies are valid.

Fares are poor even in UK. Only seasonal surge in prices. Nigeria is not an exception.

Although I'm not surprised, since Okada & keke Marwa plus Korope buses have unions.

Very soon bicycle riders & footwagens (foot trekkers) people will surely have their own too, it's a free world................

Na wa, so when people hawking agbo have union, private school teachers don't have union.

Most politicians have school so that union might be difficult.

Some mumu drivers go still dey on aircon on top trip worth less than 3kpa ,let them go and price compressor and battery make them eye clear ,tokumbo compressor is just 70k but it cannot last two Months, brand new compressor is over 260k it will serve for years, but riders want to always pay low fares and enjoy comfort , funny entitled customers
