What is ekuru pls?
akpumping7720:
So who told you that people eat ekuru like that? You eat it with correct oily stew which contains locust beans with better panla fish.

That's one food/snack I have never tasted before. I just don't find the look appetizing.

And the way they hawk it everywhere in the morning...

I have eaten OKPA more than once and there is nothing wrong with it,it is a good food and it's pathetic from that guy to say it tastes like "suffering".

If he thinks okpa tastes like "suffering", I wonder what he'll think ekuru tastes like? 🤔

At least, okpa has some ingredients inside it, and can be eaten on-the-go.
Unlike ekuru that is plain, and most likely bland on its own.
Sorry u didn't know ekuru.

Pained .

While you are entitled to your opinion, I believe the focus should shift from comparing okpa and ekuru to celebrating the incredible diversity and richness of Nigerian cuisine.

Ekuru is typically accompanied by a soup or sauce to add moisture and flavour, and it is often eaten with eko.

There's no one food that's universally acceptable.
Okpa is a delicacy when taking with cold water in hot weather and when hunger visits
yoruba”s moi moi and akara is universally accepted.

That day I pointed at "it", told the woman selling it how much

I collected one thinking it is moin moin, south boy like me never knew that would be the last time I will buy it again.

After that day, no one advised me to stop buying it!

Even Donald Trouble self cannot pass through Strait of Hormuz!

If you taste it for the first time you are not going to like it. Similarly with abacha. These food are popular in enugu.

You have to eat them several times before you can start liked them.

Opka have no ingredients. More like war time or famine/ starvation food.

For me, the name OKPA is what irritates me. I have never tasted it, but I believe it could be made to taste delicious and tantalising if enriched with all the necessary goodies.

My friend gave it to me and it was very nice but he told me that many people don't know how to do it well.

Re: Okpa Tastes Like Suffering — Risevest CEO, Eke Urum by spyder880(m): 6:04am On Mar 17
Okpa is the best snack in the world today, enjoyed in many different flavours and methods of preparation. There are festivals framed around okpa and it's still advancing in popularity.

There are many variants of this great food

Okpa with egg
Okpa with fish
Okpa with vegetables
Okpa with meat
Okpa with local spices
What about the okpa without oil, appearing white and eaten on some native festivals, that tastes superb.

How is it overrated? Its actually the most underrated food in Nigeria. I plan to buy some this morning to take to far work sites, workers will work extra if they know I came with it grin

obembet:
That was the blunt opinion shared by Eke Urum, the CEO of Risevest and it quickly sparked reactions online

For those who don’t know, Okpa is a popular delicacy from Eastern Nigeria, especially among the Igbo. It’s made from Bambara nut flour, mixed with palm oil, spices, and steamed in leaves.

To many Nigerians, especially people from the South-East, Okpa is not just food — it’s culture. It’s filling, affordable, and commonly sold on the streets, particularly in the morning.

So when Eke Urum described the taste as “suffering,” it triggered mixed reactions:

But let’s settle it here: Does Okpa really taste good, or do you agree with Eke Urum?

Ọkpa packs more protein and fiber. What’s your alternative?

Okpa cannot compare with moi moi, okpa is ahead in the scale of choice. One woman was selling okpa even at night yesterday. People love it that much.
