Normally, if your order is programmed, the meters starts at zero once the pump is lifted.
But if your order is not, the meter continues from where it was... Hence, you will notice the attendant, trying manually, not to miss the mark or amount you mentioned.

But she is right. Immediately you pick the nuzzle, the whole metre will reset.

Go and find out or google it

Re: Nigerian Man Exposes Fuel Station Scam Using Smart Glasses (video) by capish01: 11:04am On Mar 17
Here lies the cautionary tale as a car user. Nothing stops you from turning off your vehicle, coming down from your vehicle to do the needful if you're transferring, if you're doing your POS transaction with your card or giving cash, and ensuring that:
1. You're the one that opens your fuel door and your fuel cap.
2. That it starts from zero.
The attendants will argue that a lot of the time (which I've seen some fuel pumps with this setting) leave the last fuel transaction on the LCD display and then upon lifting the nozzle it resets. That is a common trend but it is your responsibility as the person buying the fuel to make sure that you are outside of the car, windows wound up, looking at the pump to see where it starts from and where it ends.
In this case I feel his big boyism of sitting down inside the vehicle and during the transaction process, Is the reason why all these things dey elongate. if you are smart enough, if you OT strong, they will not be able to play tricks on you and you save yourself the time wastage. Anyways who knows, this might all be for clicks. all things being said hind sight is 20/20. Its good practice to turn off your vehicle, wind up your windows, disembark from the vehicle( even lock your doors sef) then do your transaction, open your fuel door, get the fuel you paid for then leave... may the lord always be our light and salvation.

Same thing I was about to type. We citizens just want to shalaye. He should have bought an extra 1k to have proof. Anyone that has worked in fueling station should confirm Abeg. Because I’ve observed it resets except it was poured directly from another vessel.

Lolz! Is that the only tricks the man glass could find out. Maybe the glass can help him detect when they press air into his tank while the meter is reading.
Most filling stations attendants are crooks in different ways

You must be the smartest person alive, I'm sure that's how you feel about yourself.
There was a business I was doing before. Where we bought, they would cheat us. Where we sold, they would also cheat us. Now, tell me how I was cheating. Palm oil business. The market women, traders have so many cunning ways to to cheat you. Then, we would supply to a company using the scale which we knew their scale had been tampered with
Lol...
You want your business to die.
So, they cheat you both ways but you don't cheat, how did you fund or continue funding the business? You're definitely cheating somewhere. Tell yourself the truth.

An average Nigerian is always waiting for another person to looseguard so that he/she can take advantage of him/her.
This is no loose-guard! Nigerians are criminals

A Nigerian man has shared how he was almost cheated at a fuel station after requesting N20,000 worth of fuel.

In fact, my experiences have made me to go get fuel with gallon rather than direct to my car, except when I am on a journey. It is terrible experience. Heartless fellows! Nigeria is in a mess!

Dem don use this trick cheat me before. E pain me sha
I had similar experience at Conoil Jumofak bus stop IKORODU. To start with, their dispensing pumping has been tampered with. The attendant did not know im working in the industry [ oil and gas). All there gimmicks is at my finger tips. They have two attendant one is selling and the other was there to distract to you so that you can be cheated. The moment i was distracted and carry out their abracadabra. I jst told him to sell my fuel complete or else i will crear scene for them now.
I went to meet their manager whuch also part of the fraud. The guy wanted to proof stubborn, i brought out my ID card and threaten them to call dpr official for them. I went back to the pump and recall the last sale which show how much he sold to my car. Guy to cut the story, they balance my remaining fuel.
They are all thieves .....

Apc brought all these upon innocent Nigerians.
I'm sure you go call me agbado, but this thing has been going on for decades.
It was common back in the day when pumps were analog. To the point that my parents had 'trusted' fuel stations...that they only bought from. When digital came around in the 1990's, my mother thought that meant no more scamming, but my dad simply said that Nigerians always find a way...and he was right. Within a few years, same problem.
This one is even one of the more easier to catch. There were the scams where they fixed the machine in ways that you go think you are getting the right amount of fuel, but na lie. And you no go know.

Nigeria has always been 'that way' long before tinubu came around. Infact, where do you think Tinubu came from? Nigeria. If Nigeria was good before tinubu, then there would have been no way he would have come about. Nigerians have always had scams in one way or the other for decades.

Even during the colonial times self. There is one book that goes into the history of organised crime in NIgeria. I've forgotten the title. Read am, una go see things.
