Good day everyone. Please is anyone here using the airtel fiber to the home. They have done cable installation in our estate but what i have read here about ODU and their router is discouraging.

As far as I know, it's mtn that has Fiber network that requires estate cable installation. Mtn Fiberx is great from reviews.

Airtel is ODU router only and it's 'wireless.' This is the one giving challenges.

Probably the power unit (UPS) has issues.

Airtel has Fiber to the home too. Just that they service mostly estates.

Airtel also has. Tho only in few estates in Lagos and Abuja for now. Actually mtn are also mounting poles in the estate but I am inclined to try airtel if it has good reviews.

If you have the option to chose between Airtel and mtn omo chose mtn for your peace of mind.

Airtel is down?

I have the x25 router. Can I get the ODU and use the sim in the router. Will it work?

Secondly, read somewhere here that it can also work in a mod mifi, I just need something I'll be able to use in my car or when I'm out of the house.

Today is my 8th day without service on my ODU. They keep telling me that they are working very hard to resolve the issue.
I think I have to quit at this point. It wasn't a good experience.
Bought on the 19th of February, started working on the 21st and stopped on the 9th of march.
The worst is that the due date is on 19th of march. Are the expecting a renewal from me or what?

Yes it will work, I am currently using it with hertz 6 router

The Airtel ODU network became so poor and unusable. I can't be throwing away 25k when I can't use up to 50GB per month.

I don ditch them
Re: Airtel Unlimited Data Thread! Best Data Plan In 2024!! by femarse: 9:37am On Mar 18
My pick is that the ODU/IDU itself is the main problem
there is once a while Airtel downtime experience by most Airtel but the one experience by the ODU is just unimaginable

Putting the same exact ODU sim in any other Airtel router that is not ODU remove you from 90% of the downtime problem , since the ODU , I have only experience downtime or no network like 3 times that lasted maximum of 2 days, I don't use the ODU device , I use Normal Airtel 4G smartbox with the ODU sim , sometimes I ask if it's the same Airtel I am using everyone is complaining about like this ....I think those using the Normal 5G router with the ODU sim too don't experience downtime like that

You go come one day tell us how bad it has become grin

Not cursing you oh, but Airtel always goes round. I use all kinds of routers tweaked or not, that work with the ODU sim. The issue is always location dependent and largely from Airtel.

So apparently your location has been having stable network. Maybe they have good quality bands and cells serving that location and have not tinkered anything there yet. But don't celebrate much because except if they keep that energy, one day you'd see what we are seeing and not even the specific router you're using now can help. I hope this doesn't happen sha, just context wink

I wouldn’t say I don’t experience downtimes either Airtel sometimes, but it’s not that common. A simple band lock fixes it, there are times you must have to combine bands for network to be stable, there are times you’ll just need to lock to a single band. This was my speed around 11:40am . I was downloading with torrent . Also I noticed that devices connected to your router sometimes prioritize themselves for speed which in turn affects other devices. But overall I’m enjoying this Airtel, and Starlink is the only thing that can replace it for me.

I have also been enjoying Airtel for a couple of months now that I had to sell off my Starlink because it didn't make sense keeping it, well until Airtel struck me for 2 good days lol. Happy it's back sha. I guess you can't have it all. I'm ok with 1 or 2 days of downtimes.

I can't even sell my Starlink if I had one. I am even planning to get a Starlink mini as backup for downtime days. Will be subscribing to it intermittently. But I must say, Airtel, in a good place, save one the stress of bogus subscription. Sweet.

I think it was yesterday, or two days ago, when there was a downtime of more than 3 hours, affecting my work. So, Starlink would have come in handy. Also, I don't want to hear that diesel don cost, so they will be rationing network. grin grin

With starlink you don't have the option of intermittent subscription, it's like a contract. Once you're in then it's a monthly thing. The wifi coverage for the mini is very poor, same for the gen 3 so you might end up needing a wifi extender depending on your space.

It worked perfectly for about two weeks. Only the 3g is working at 2kb now.

My advice is if you’re using band lock and experiencing issues, better to remove the lock. Seems the Band 7 is terrible for now while the Band 1 is much better.

Of course it might be location dependent but I’ve not had any serious downtime recently.

I know it is a monthly thing, but you can cancel your subscription before the next month's own kicks in. The way you say it, you sound like you will be forced to subscribe monthly even if you do not have the money.

The issue here is that if you are in a congested place, then it is not recommended, as one may not be able to reactivate it again, since there is no space.

Yes, I will get an extender if need be. I live in a self-con at the moment, so coverage really shouldn't be an issue.
