Remi Surutu Defends Tinubu Over Fuel Price Hike, Speaks On Yoruba Unity by alphonsojidebab(op):
Veteran Nollywood actress, Remi Surutu, has stirred conversations online after defending President Bola Ahmed Tinubu amid growing concerns over rising fuel prices in Nigeria.

The actress, in a recent statement, shared her views on ethnic unity and the economic realities affecting the country, particularly the cost of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS). Eyes Of Lagos reports,

Surutu praised a family she described as kind and well-meaning, using the moment to highlight what she believes is a major issue among Yoruba people—lack of unity.

According to her, internal criticism and division often hinder collective progress within the ethnic group.

“They are extremely very good people… But the fact that we Yorubas, we don’t love ourselves, we condemn ourselves in as much as is allowed,” she said.

She urged Nigerians, especially Yorubas, to reflect on broader realities and adopt a more supportive mindset toward one another.

Speaking on the ongoing debate surrounding fuel price hikes, Surutu defended Tinubu, popularly known as Asiwaju, stating that global economic forces play a major role in determining fuel prices.

She argued that blaming the Nigerian government alone oversimplifies the issue.

“Asiwaju is not responsible for the rise in petrol prices. The price of the fuel is decided by some beings, by the world leaders,” she added.

Her comments come at a time when Nigerians continue to grapple with the impact of fuel subsidy removal and fluctuating pump prices.

Surutu’s remarks have since generated mixed reactions on social media. While some users agreed with her stance on global economic influence, others insisted that government policies still play a critical role in shaping fuel costs and citizens’ welfare.

As debates continue, her comments add to the growing discourse around leadership, economic policy, and national unity in Nigeria.

Nigeria as an oil producing country should benefit from the Iran crisis but sadly the opposite is the case. Political asslicking and psycophancy should never becloud our sense of sound judgement.

See ROBUST illiterate, saying things without commonsense. Ghana , has a stable pump price for their petroleum products. Why can't NIGERIA do so?

Why is it that NEGATIVE things are always used to sypport leadership failure in NIGERIA by APC supporters?

See a failure in an actress supporting a failure in a leader because they come from the same tribe?

I sincerely wish NIGERIA divides so that we see regions at their full potential.

Truly.. SW is a disappointment. angry

Its an expose on SW mentality.

They are all supporting TINUBUs failings because they have been activated by tribalism, bigotry and peanuts. They relegated their senses when the person in power from their region is NEPOTISTIC.

All I know is that Southern Unity is DEAD.

So why did they protest against Jonathan when global price went up and he decided to raise it to about 85 naira per litre?

They wanted to burn down the country at 85 naira per litre with subsidy being paid for them, but are saying it is very good at 1500 naira per litre under Tinubu...

Tinubu's presidency exposed the ideology of the south west.

Madam e gbenu osi da ke..

Tell those in power to fix our refineries, so we don't rely on one monopolist who is busy sabotaging state owned assets through proxies in public offices. How will an entire country (blessed with crude oil) not have a single functioning refinery, yet one known monopolist is parading himself as saviour and people can't read the handwriting to see where Nigeria's problem is coming from.

We are running out of critical thinkers in this country and it frightens me.

There's nowhere on this planet where oil prices is "stable" if what you are saying is that it doesn't fluctuate due to various reasons.
Tinubu doesn't determine how much gas will go for. This is beyond any single individual in the world.

Keep quiet.

Strategic reserves and price control mechanisms are put in place to cushion global price fluctuations.

Its because you appreciate and support Nonsense that is why Dangote can sell Cement to you at exorbitant prices, even though everything used in manufacturing it is sourced locally. Same applies to CRUDE OIL, Libya that is fight6an ongoing war still sells cheaper than you and you are talking Nonsense to justify useless incremental prices?

Fluctuations you talk about in the OIL industry shouldn't be NIGERIAs business because as OPEC members you have a certain threshold for domestic market and usage.

Secure your borders...and smuggling that encourages price differential won't happen. Refine locally and Dangote will dare not tell you that international market determines his price. Je gets his crude in Naira, dont you know that? The Nigerian market alone will make him a billionaire, so stop lamenting senselessly.

As regards that TINUBU PA that opened his mouth to talk nonsense, it's the same thing said by this woman.

Reasoning based on political alignment is useless. Stop supporting nonsense. If it was another tribe now...you will be dancing senselessly at OJOTA and claiming upright.

You have been exposed as failures, propaganda can't whitewash failure.

Go Sleep.. angry

Exorbitant exploitation can't be termed fluctuation.
