I can't even sell my Starlink if I had one. I am even planning to get a Starlink mini as backup for downtime days. Will be subscribing to it intermittently. But I must say, Airtel, in a good place, save one the stress of bogus subscription. Sweet.

I think it was yesterday, or two days ago, when there was a downtime of more than 3 hours, affecting my work. So, Starlink would have come in handy. Also, I don't want to hear that diesel don cost, so they will be rationing network.

I know it is a monthly thing, but you can cancel your subscription before the next month's own kicks in. The way you say it, you sound like you will be forced to subscribe monthly even if you do not have the money.

The issue here is that if you are in a congested place, then it is not recommended, as one may not be able to reactivate it again, since there is no space.

Yes, I will get an extender if need be. I live in a self-con at the moment, so coverage really shouldn't be an issue.

My wifi reception for Gen3 is ok i don't even need an extender

They're not comparable at all. Starlink will always answer you 24/7 with reliable speed. But for some of us that don't really mind 1 or 2 days of downtime, Starlink is more of an overkill, especially with the fee being twice that of Airtel and the price of the hardware lol.

Yeah but speed wise is still cheap cus 57k can get you 300mbps+ with no data cap

That's the middle ground, I think I am in the same boat with you.

If I have 2 days of downtime, I go wan mad coz my remote work depends on it. Saving on working hours is necessary for me.

I’ve been using Airtel ZLT ODU since December, And it was working fine. Occasional downtime ranging from minutes to hours existed. But I was okay with that.



Since March 1st however, the services just went bad. Daytime is 1mbps to max 20mbps(with ping of 500-1500ms - like WTF)


It’s a new subscription (so I haven’t used 1tb yet)
The ODU shows green - that’s “good signal”


However, Around 1am to 6am - it gets to 20 - 50mbps(with ping 28-43ms)

I’ve been sending emails and even complaining on Twitter.

I even reported to NCC: Still no solution.

Has anyone been able to get help or fix this?

Are you sure you have a good Airtel network in your area? I once had the same issue when I first got the device. Since then, I’ve downloaded up to 700–800GB of content, and I can also play FC26 on my console without any problems.

If you’re using the G5FA ODU (that’s the same model I use), set your APN to manual and lock the 4G band to Band 3 (it works well in Abuja). The ODU comes with only n78 for 5G, so set the antenna to automatic.

Trust me, this Airtel ODU is not plug-and-play. Maybe they’re not aware, or their engineers are not ready to do the job properly. You need to use the ZTE Help app to check the signal strength in different parts of your house, then adjust the manual settings (APN, band lock, 5G lock if available in your area, and antenna).

From my experience, the Airtel ODU with the ZTE G5FA is definitely not plug-and-play.

Please do Airtel have an after service for the odu koz my router got burnt and the ethernet port have stopped working.

I have actually never had a full day outage. Just that I don't really want any outages at all, but they come anyway. Almost everything I do is dependent on internet availability.

It worked perfectly for about two weeks. Only the 3g is working at 2kb now.

mine did something similar and worked only after resetting. I did the reset on the outdoor unit and not the indoor unit

Airtel won fustrate my life for a week now the 5G smart box has beed slow. So i decided to investigate, I logged into the router and check the cell tower its connecting to. Turns out to be that there are only 2 cells, provider 4G network and those 2 cells are crowded as i suspect everyone around my area is connected to those cells so its over crowded... Omo i don tire.

And the 5G is based upon the 4G signal so if there is poor 4G there will poor or no 5G network since Airtel doesn't use standalone 5G.

I have been checking the bands but turns out that only band 7 works or is stable enough to provide kilobytes worth of data.

See if you locked to a cell that is no longer active.

I wrote extensively about this some days ago. It is probably better to leave all bands and cells active if you don't mind toggling through them every once in a while, because some of the cells deteriorate in signal.

In my place, cell 491 on band 7 at 3256 frequency was the best of them all. But right now, if I lock to it, my router will not show 4G signal but fall back to 3G. It may browse or not, depending on what's happening with 3G at the moment. Having left everything on (except band 3, I so much hate that band ), new cells have emerged that are much better than the old ones.

If you use ZTE G5F, just leave cells and bands alone. That router is more than capable of taking care of itself, and, by extension, taking care of you

Where do you stream at FHD

Was trying to join the cable together cause it got cut from the middle so I guess there was a bridge.it only affected the ethernet ic that powers the odu. It comes on but I can't connect to it
