What is disrespectful in buying a house that was put up for sale? You guys will never think properly
What they are saying is don't walk around thinking because of money you are a king in another man's town and also you need to be very sensitive to the needs of the people. When Dangote bought the land of the refinary he found out there were 19 Yoruba Traditional shrines in the location he had already bought, he did not get a bulldozer and remove the shrines off his property, he contacted the Ooni of Ife to talk to them. Ooni is believed to be ordained by the God's in Yoruba land. That is why no priest is cursing Dangote or doing press conference against him.

If I was I trillionaire I would never buy an ediffice and change what it was built for you will always meet resistance. The pastor should not be dragging this thing are they not supposed to be close to God ? Are they not supposed to have higher understanding ?

RandDigital:
Nigerian pastor John Anosike has accused Gayton McKenzie of xenophobia and intimidation after the Minister and Patriotic Alliance leader voiced his disapproval of the former’s bid on Cape Town’s Good Hope Centre.

Anosike, who heads up a church in Maitland, has also responded to critics, claiming his alleged acquisition is “lawful, transparent and fully documented”.

Despite bragging about owning the rights, the City of Cape Town has yet to confirm its successful bid. An auditing process is currently underway.

MINISTER MACKENZIE'S OBJECTION

During a Facebook Live this week, Gayton McKenzie claimed that the Patriotic Alliance approached the management of the Good Hope Centre to host the launch of the Joslin Smith Foundation. He claims their request was rejected.

The Minister of Sport, Arts and Culture voiced his disapproval that the Democratic Alliance-led City of Cape Town had allowed Nigerian Pastor John Anosike to bid on the historic landmark.

He said: “Over our dead bodies, here will be no Nigerian church. We are not taking arts and culture spaces and giving them to Nigerians. That will not happen.

“If that Nigerian pastor knows what is good for him, he must keep that money. My advice to him is to take your money and invest in Nigeria. We will never give you peace. We will fight in the highest court. You will never take that velodrome and have Nigerians there having churches. That place will become a place of drugs.

“If the DA thinks…we’re not saying anything, but we’re watching this move. The Good Hope Centre will not be sold to a Nigerian”.

PASTOR ANOSIKE'S RESPONSE

In a lengthy statement, John Anosike responded to the backlash over his bid for the Good Hope Centre.

The Nigerian pastor named Gayton McKenzie, whose strong opposition has garnered attention.

Anosike said of the minister: “Statements of this nature raise serious concerns about xenophobic undertones, political intimidation, and the discouragement of lawful investment by foreign residents of South Africa.

“When political leaders publicly threaten or attempt to obstruct lawful property transactions that have been conducted within the legal framework of the country, it sends a troubling signal to potential investors and entrepreneurs.”

In other Facebook posts, he also sent a “warning” to his xenophobic critics by quoting a bible verse that read: “Be careful how you treat foreigners in your country. For your treatment of them attracts spiritual consequences over the nation”.

Another read: “A nation that oppresses immigrants invites divine judgment because injustice provokes God’s wrath.”
Since when did church business become an investment? Maybe an investment that benefits the pastor and his family

Abeg make pastor Anosike leave them, let him take that money to another country, let them sell it to their own people, wuked south Africans, envy, jealousy and hatred full their mind for other African countries especially Nigerians.

You are from here you don't know how they think over there. Look at how people left Twitter as Elon Musk turned it into his property. If the building belongs to the community they have a stake in the building. This is not 9 ja.

Xenophobia at it's peak...

Anytime I hear xenophobia I think South Africa.

In my head the two have come to be associated!
Na by force to export your shenanigans to other people's countries?
I don't blame them, will you people allow such in your place?
Answer that question truthfully. How many Nigerians Will allow foreigners to come and take a place they cherish as such and turn it into a church by foreigners?
Will you even allow fellow Nigerians from other parts of the country to do such in your place?
Be honest with yourself for a change.

It's a slap in people's face to turn a community building into a private church. What people do not understand that the building is the property of the citizens. It was not like some businessman built a house and you want to buy that house. The building is a community building that is why the community is protesting.

In some countries in Europe they no longer allow empty churches to be turned into mosques
Re: Pastor John Anosike's Bid On Cape Town’s Good Hope Centre Opposed By SA Minister by themanderon: 1:27pm On Mar 20
That McKenzie is a thug. He speaks like an average black xenophobic south African who are not particularly known to be intelligent.
What does he mean by the place will be a place of drugs? Do all Nigerians in South Africa trade in or take drugs? He is just tar brushing all Nigerians as if one of them stole his wife.
Very uncouth human.

I can agree with the above but that Minister is an illit.era.te and is definitely not smart enough upstairs to articulate the point you just made.

His job is to steer up resentment and focus his constituents on foreign nationals.

That is the more reason Nigerians need to behave themselves. Look at Osimhen , look at how Galatasaray love him.

We must not strive to make money we must strived to work hard recieve our wages and be loved. When people love you they will go out of their way to make you more successful.

Who is this xenophobic @mirasteel that is making hateful and inciting comments on Nigerians and Seun bots can't ban him? In a Nigerian forum you are saying that a Nigerian that legitimately bought a building in your country is doing scam? Would you have said the same if your masters from Europe came to buy it?

@Seun if you do not ban this guy and delete this thread, then I won't take Nairaland seriously again.

A worker works hard to receive his "wages". An entrepreneur creates his own and strives to make money in a capitalist world. This is reality.

As for South Africans, This is not a matter of behaving yourself. It's a matter of Xenophobia against other Africans.

Europeans buy up all kinds of properties under their noses, and they dare not raise their voices at that.

It has nothing to do with Xenophobia. How people behave is what creates prejudice. Look at Victor Osimhen in Turkey he is experiencing no racism because he is a Super Natural. Michael Jordan is extremely dark skinned. A friend of mine constantly calls me to complain about how loud we are in London, blaring Fuji music in buildings that are quit.

If I was in south Africa I will join the protest.

This SA sports minister is just a clown, always trying to make a living by attacking Nigerians

You see why Nigerians must stop castigating their own country before the entire world? We are the ones giving folks like this minister who can’t lace the shoes of many of local govt councillors mouth to rain insults on us. Honestly I don’t blame him much

They're within their rights not to sell to whoever but the bitterness in the minister's response is very unbecoming for a public officer

Exactly all their hurts and anger against their true oppressors they pass that aggression on their fellow Africans haba, is SA the only African country where Nigerians thrive?

Galatasary is not known for racist outbursts in comparison to European clubs so that is not a good analogy.

South Africans perceive every move by Black foreigners, Nigerian or otherwise as an existential threat to their very existence yet the same Europeans who are doing the exact same thing are exempt because of their " good behavior", not buying that arguement my friend.

Its xenophobia/Afrophobia, no sugar coating.
