Yes, President Bola Tinubu is back from his 'historic' visit to the United Kingdom. The major highlight of the visit is the signing of a migration agreement with the United Kingdom. Of what benefit is this trip to the average Nigerian who is unemployed, faced with insecurity, no light, high petrol cost and others?

Benefits? Benefits are for him and his henchmen alone. Nigerian politicians of Tinubus era are so full of "colonial mentality". They desperately strive to get the validation of the white man. Don't forget that the likes of Tinubu, Obasanjo, Buhari and Babangida were all raised during the colonial era. They all still have that tendency to bow in obeisance to their former "colonial masters" Tinubu specifically is a hobbled presidency! He is so vulnerable with all the records of his past crimes in the custody of these western powers, coupled with his alarmingly high unpopularity. When you feel inferior before another group and you come with all kinds of baggage, you become so susceptible to all sorts of mental assaults and control. That's exactly where an inebriated Tinubu finds himself as at today. With the general elections looming, he's ready to sell Nigeria short to achieve his goals too. That's why he is willing to sign an agreement that allows the British to dump their criminals in Nigeria just so he can be in the good books of the imperialists. Only God knows the amount of oil Wells and gas fields that he has corruptly signed away so he can get those photo opportunities with Macron and Charles. |

None. Zilch. Nada. He was practically played by the "state visit" and appended his signature to every deal placed before him in exchange for a ride on horseback. Nigeria is now subsidising the UK but Tinubu's lackeys on here are nonthewiser. Maybe his Nairaland resident water carriers can help out here.

Tinubu’s trip benefited U.K. a lot. No benefit to Nigerians. We wasted billions for a red carpet reception. First, we spent billions of naira to lobby for it which benefited U.K lobbyists. Then we spent more billions for prepping for the trip, which benefited UK based event management companies, hotels, restaurants, and luxury car rental companies. The deal we “supposedly” secured will benefit U.K. contractors, construction companies, suppliers, engineers, and the U.K. government in general. |

We all will be having Ovaltine for breakfast soon lol The answer is nothing. The British being our colonial masters has been one of our biggest trading partners and so Tinubu doesn't need to go and ride a carriage in London for anything. As a matter, most responsible governments are trying to extricate themselves from the grip and influence that their former colonial masters are having on their economy. Some of the crisis we are having today in the oil industry was caused by Shell-BP. Unlike in other countries where they operate, they refused to build refineries in Nigeria and neglected the environment and stole most of the oli after helping Nigeria win the civil war. |

AMINDA:So we basically went there to save their lives? Something they should have traveled down to Nigeria to lobby for, those clowns travelled on taxpayers money to go and waste more money and instead of securing something good, they got Ovaltine in exchange for buying steel we don't need from Britain. This slavery just got renewed. |

Imagine British Steel was literally dying. Tinubu had to save it by signing a £70m deal that will sustain British jobs. Like why should we invest that much on British steel instead of funding our own steel company? Why take these jobs to Britain? This is just the slave mentality nothing else.

In all, the UK benefits more and that was the focus. Helping to revive British steel while Ajaokuta steel company remains comatose. I laughed when some bragged that Coventry University would be setting up a campus in Lagos, the same Coventry University I know very well, that is financially struggling, abi na another one? |

And the Turkiye trip where all the news was about tripping. And France where drama was aplenty. But even to get EDF, a the world renowned power giant to come step in to deliver this country from the electricity mess we are in.....zero, zilch, nada. So it all looks more routine than productive. That every Nigerian HOS should visit and pay homage to the British Sovereign and Head of the Commonwealth, that's all. The coming days, weeks and months will reveal exactly this. His predecessor broke all records for air miles to foreign lands. We are still waiting for the positive impact 11 years later....what is different now.... PS. Chinese leaders are notorious for not travelling far and wide and the present Premier is no exception. But look at the country. It's development is entirely internal and organic. The ability of successive leaders to remain focused, objective, sacrificial and ambitious. They built their country to greatness within their means and by themselves. |
