U.S Lifts Sanctions On Iranian Oil In Effort To Stabilize Markets by TruthU87(op): 8:55am On Mar 21
The Trump administration has waived sanctions on Iranian oil purchases at sea for 30 days to ease surging oil prices driven by the US-Israeli war on Iran.

The US treasury secretary, Scott Bessent, said the waiver would bring about 140m barrels of oil to global markets and help relieve pressure on energy supply.

The move reflects White House concern that soaring oil prices – up about 50% to more than $100 a barrel, the highest since 2022 – will hurt US businesses and consumers ahead of the November midterm elections, when Republicans hope to retain control of Congress.

However, Bessent’s earlier suggestion of a waiver raised concerns that it could benefit Iran’s war effort.

It is the third time the US has temporarily waived sanctions in about two weeks.

It had previously eased sanctions on Russian oil, and on Friday issued a general licence allowing the sale of Iranian crude oil and petroleum products loaded on vessels as of Friday to 19 April, according to the licence posted to the US treasury website.

“By temporarily unlocking this existing supply for the world, the United States will quickly bring approximately 140 million barrels of oil to global markets, expanding the amount of worldwide energy and helping to relieve the temporary pressures on supply caused by Iran,” Bessent said in a statement on X.

Day 21 of Operation Epic Failure

- Russian oil unsanctioned
- Iranian oil unsanctioned
- Ships paying Iran $2M for Hormuz passage
- $1T gone from stock market
- F35 proven useless
- American bases under constant attack
- Replaced Khamenei with Khamenei

Let me laugh again and again grin grin grin

FYI, Iran oil is not under the US sanction because they have been selling their oil.

What is playing out here is that the US want to buy Iran oil to ease the global oil market then continue to hit Iran again. Iran are so smart to announce to the US that they don't have oil to sell grin

Iran are the inventor of Chess so they're master of it.

President Trump says the US wants to talk to Iran, but there's nobody to talk to because "their leaders are all gone"

REALITY: Trump has tried contacting the Iranian Foreign Ministry & Office of Khamenei regarding a ceasefire, but was REJECTED EVERY TIME...

What an outcome...

Guess it's not going according to Trump's plan.

Swift and decisive indeed. Someone should help me with that exact quote.

In a very very very strange move, never witnessed in history, the U.S., in the middle of the war in Iran, removed sanctions on Iran and allow Iran to earn $14 billion dollars in oil revenues.

To contextualize, the U.S. has not bought oil from Iran since 1996, due to myriads of sanctions. But in the middle of a war with same country, seeking to decapitate the capacity of the Iranian state to govern, the U.S. turned to empower Iran even much more.

Iran is in total control of strait of Hormuz, collecting tolls of $2 million per vessel, and now, they are expecting a direct credit alert from the U.S. to earn more money.

Re: U.S Lifts Sanctions On Iranian Oil In Effort To Stabilize Markets by Nobody: 9:11am On Mar 21
The truth is that this move is a massive trap for Tehran. The US is basically using Iran's own head to break coconut by weaponizing their own oil against them.

By letting those 140 million barrels hit the market at once, they are intentionally crashing global oil prices. The goal is simple: strip Iran of those high-profit margins they were using to fund their "runs" and operations.

It’s a cold "format" because the waiver only covers old stock already on ships, not new production. Iran isn't gaining any new market share or long-term contracts here. Even China’s "sweet deal" is dead now that they have to compete with Japan and India—the "distress discount" Iran was using to keep their allies happy has effectively evaporated.

Worst of all, while the oil is moving to keep global fuel prices stable, the money is still trapped. Financial systems are still on lockdown, so the revenue is basically "Audio Money" sitting in accounts Tehran can't touch.

Basically, the US is taking the oil to kill global inflation while keeping the pressure on Iran exactly where it is. Masterstroke.

That bridge has passed as Iran no longer wants anything to do with the USD and is now demanding that anyone besides the US and Israel can access the straits on the condition they pay in Chinese yuan.

This isn't limited to Iranian shipments of crude but the entire GCC oil stock must be bought and paid for in Yuan.

The Iranians are now dictating to the GCC countries on which currencies they can sell their crude to and so far its working as Qatari gas shipment to Japan was paid for in Yuan into a Chinese bank account.

you people talk as if USA is God. You mean Iran' account is frozen. Dey there. This is 2026. This a currency war. By the time petrodollar is officially crippled. Then the world will have peace. Why should one country be dictating to everyone

Bros there is nothing masterstroke about this...

If anything the US is desperate and loosing grip of the situation.

The situation has really spiraled out of control of what they ever anticipated. You overate trump and America and that's why you see masterstroke in everything they do. Even when they are in a tight corner.

First of all 140 million barrels will not and cannot crash global oil prices. The world consumes about 100 million barrels of oil per day.

So 140 million barrels is about 1.4 days of global demand. That’s too small to and insignificant to“crash” prices in any lasting way.

For real price crashes you need sustained oversupply not a one-off release.

Iran can’t access the money is also laughable because Iran is dictating the model/channel of payment and even currency to use.

Iran has been under sanctions for decades as long as I can remember. But have always managed to by-pass and access funds.

So it’s not “money they can’t touch at all”.

Discount advantage is gone is oversimplified too as Iran and even Russia typically sells oil
at a discount to attract buyers willing to take sanction risks

Even if more oil enters the market
that discount doesn’t just disappear overnight.

Masterstroke by the US... don't make me laugh bros. If anything it has shown the ineptitude of trump and his administration.

They have shown no coordination in their actions so far and exposed failed ability or inability to plan.

Trump was just so eager to show strength and power and rushed into a war that had no direct and significant benefit to the US. (War just dey sweet am)

He is trying desperately to save face and cover his shame right now.

They is really nothing masterstroke about that!

Meanwhile they are preparing to invade the island of Kharg so as to hyjack Iranian oil sales the same way t they are doing that of Venezuela!

The Trump administration is actively involved in the act of brazenly stealing other countries resources and channeling the funds elsewhere.

This is the type of "democracy" they are spreading across the globe; Bomb a country, impose a corrupt leadership amenable to your interests there, and utilise their services to loot the resources of the said country while the ordinary people suffer..

US is doing everything now to get Iran to reintegrate into the Petrol-Dollar.

Note that Iran is now dictating to cash starved GCC countries that they can sell their crude to anyone besides the US and Israel as long as the crude shipments are paid in Chinese Yuan into a BRICS account in China.

Trump removing s-called sanctions on Iranian crude is irrelevant as Iran has been on sanctions for over 45ys now and has weaned itself completely from the western economies.

Note also that Iran is one of a handful of countries that its central bank is not owned by Rothschild and so is not part of the Bank of International Settlement, BIS network.

Trump is doing this not just to ease supply restrictions but as a last desperate measure to get Iran to start negotiating but the Iranians have sworn off the USD .
