Thank you for your post, and I do really appreciate it.

Firstly, I am not "anti-USA". I am simply pro-Black/pro-Africa. I am open to initiatives that uplift and promote prosperity for Black people, specifically Black Africans. I have written countless times (see below) that the best place for professionally skilled Black people, especially outside of Africa, is the United States. I have written comments urging people to send their children to study in the US or migrate to the US even illegally. The numbers support it. I have fancied sending my yet-to-be-born children to study certain courses at selected universities in the US (I even did research with a Nairalander privately).

I love the US for its right-to-choose belief system and the breadth of capitalism. I am pro-capitalism any time, any day. What I am against is when the US is openly against China's involvement in Africa, even when there are many ordinary Africans who benefit from these investments. Make people for Nasarawa no get work because the US is against Chinese mining interests? Have the Chinese ever warned the US not to invest in Nigeria? See what the UK is doing by investing in the country. That is what the US should do, rather than castigate another for doing what it refuses to do. Has China warned the UK not to invest in Nigeria? I made a post about the US kicking against Chinese investments in South America's biggest port, and even a Latino academic based in the US has voiced similar concerns (see below). "Why is the US against economic infrastructural development in a region it professes to love?" Do Latinas not deserve modern infrastructure simply because the capital and expertise are from the Chinese?

Lastly, my experience living in Japan has made me understand that nothing beats living and prospering in your dominant region. The feeling is satisfying and wonderful. Not only because you are doing well economically, but because you live amongst people who look, speak and behave as you do. I have read comments and posts about how Chinese in the US have moved back to China/Hong Kong, Singapore, Japan, Korea and Malaysia and in all, I noticed there is a common theme: proximity to where there is a Chinese population, so they feel at home. Humans are tribal, so nothing surprising. This is why the constant fascination with the question: "Between Russian and the US visa", which do you prefer does not excite me because most people would prefer their homelands if there is abundant prosperity. Heck, countless articles are showing Poles who lived in the UK moving back to Poland as their country boomed economically.

Throughout today, I have been reading replies about how Malaysia is a hidden gem, and yes, it is based on their economy, general urban development and passport. As a graduate student, when I met them, I wondered why they had left the country. Unsurprisingly, most moved back to Malaysia after studies, or some (mostly the Chinese) move to Singapore, which is Chinese-dominated. You think if Nigeria becomes like Malaysia tomorrow, will many Nigerians in the abroad not move back to Nigeria? Many did o in 2007 - 2012/2014. Their comments littered Nairaland during its heydays. You can search them. Well, most of them later campaigned and voted for Buhari in 2015, but a topic for another day.

African migration to western countries has either slowed or reversed. Africans view the west as a decaying civilisation. And that is for the better so that more of them come back, less go and build up their continent.

That is money that builds houses, pays school fees, and starts businesses.

Show me a single Nigerian in China who sends that kind of money home. You cannot.

Between 2010 and 2023, the number of sub Saharan Africans living in OECD countries grew by 78 percent. That is not a reversal. That is growth. The United States remains the top destination for Nigerian migrants. The United Kingdom is second. Canada is growing fast. People are not fleeing the West. They are still going. They are still staying. They are still sending money home.

You say Africans view the West as a decaying civilization. That is what people say on social media. That is not what people do with their lives. If the West is finished, why are Nigerians still applying for visas? Why are Nigerian students still paying tuition at American and British universities? Why are Nigerian nurses still moving to the UK and Canada? Actions speak louder than tweets.

Now let me ask you a question in return. What about Nigerians in China? What is their median income? What percentage hold professional jobs? What percentage are business owners? Where is the data? You will not find it, because it does not exist in any comparable form.

But here is the difference. In the West, Nigerians can complain openly. They can organize. They can run for office. They can build wealth and pass it to their children. Try doing that in China, Russia or Iran as a Nigerian. Try buying a home. Try getting a mortgage. Try sending your child to a Chinese public school and having them treated equally. Try running for local office. Try organizing a protest against working conditions. You cannot.

So do not tell me the West is finished. The West has real problems. Serious problems. But it is still the place where millions of Nigerians have built successful lives. You talk about building Africa. I want that too. I want Nigeria to industrialize. I want us to stop exporting raw materials and importing finished goods. I want us to manufacture what we consume. That is my position, and I have written about it at length.

But pretending the West is worthless does not help Africa. Ignoring the fact that China extracts more from Nigeria than it gives back does not help Africa. Pretending that Nigerians are not succeeding abroad does not help Africa.

The truth is that the West, for all its flaws, has created systems where Nigerians can thrive. China has not. Russia has not. The numbers prove it. The remittances prove it. The educational achievements prove it. The professional success of Nigerian Americans proves it. I know countless of people who migrated from Nigeria to UK , Canada, USA in recent times and am sure alot of people here on this platform also have those who relocated abroad to Western countries. I don’t even know where to start with this delusional brainwash but this is largely western propaganda.

The West is not good for Africa period. They colonised the continent, extracted its wealth and they benefit from Africa being underdeveloped. China’s influence in Africa and the global south now is overwhelming. Who are African countries’ biggest trading partners? Whom has done most of the infrastructure projects in Africa in the past 20 years? Whom dominates Africa’s telecom infrastructure and tech in general? It is not the west. It is China. Heck even Russia is far better than any western country in Africa. The west has done nothing more than destroy that continent.
You think the West is free? Tell that Edward Snowden or Julian Assange. You can’t even post a meme on twitter without getting jailed here.

Migration to the West has slowed. In America, they experienced a negative migration rate in 2025. People from the global south in general are not flocking to the West anymore

Africa and generally Africans like the rest of the world do view the West as a declining civilisation. It’s a multipolar world just look at the US and Iran war. China is now the dominant power in Africa and the global south in general and that is by a widening margin. The West really does not offer much to Africa or Africans.

And no that group of Nigerians you listed is a highly specified group. Most Nigerians and Africans in the western largely end up in mediocrity. Heck many of them are even coming back now Z

If the West is finished, why are Nigerians still applying for visas? Why are Nigerian students still paying tuition at American and British universities? Why are Nigerian nurses still moving to the UK and Canada? Actions speak louder than tweets.

Third, you say most Nigerians abroad are not doing well. That is also false. The data is clear. Nigerians in the United States are among the most educated immigrant groups in the country. Over 60 percent hold a bachelor's degree or higher. That is higher than the American national average. Nigerian American households have a median income above the US average. Nigerian Americans own homes at rates comparable to the general population. These are not struggling people. These are people who are succeeding.

Does that mean every Nigerian immigrant is rich? Of course not. Some struggle. Some work multiple jobs. Some face discrimination. But to say most are at the bottom is simply not supported by the evidence.

Now let me ask you a question in return. What about Nigerians in China? What is their median income? What percentage hold professional jobs? What percentage are business owners? Where is the data? You will not find it, because it does not exist in any comparable form.

You say the West is a failing civilization that cannot look after its own people. There is truth in that. Homelessness exists. Inequality exists. Racism exists. No serious person denies that. But here is the difference. In the West, Nigerians can complain openly. They can organize. They can run for office. They can build wealth and pass it to their children. They can send their kids to good schools. They can buy homes in safe neighborhoods.

Try doing that in China, Russia or Iran as a Nigerian. Try buying a home. Try getting a mortgage. Try sending your child to a Chinese public school and having them treated equally. Try running for local office. Try organizing a protest against working conditions. You cannot.

So do not tell me the West is finished. The West has real problems. Serious problems. But it is still the place where millions of Nigerians have built successful lives. It is still the place where they send their children for education. It is still the place they choose to live when they have a choice.

You talk about building Africa. I want that too. I want Nigeria to industrialize. I want us to stop exporting raw materials and importing finished goods. I want us to manufacture what we consume. That is my position, and I have written about it at length.

But pretending the West is worthless does not help Africa. Ignoring the fact that China extracts more from Nigeria than it gives back does not help Africa. Pretending that Nigerians are not succeeding abroad does not help Africa.

The truth is that the West, for all its flaws, has created systems where Nigerians can thrive. China has not. Russia has not. The numbers prove it. The remittances prove it. The educational achievements prove it. The professional success of Nigerian Americans proves it. I know countless of people who migrated from Nigeria to UK , Canada, USA in recent times and am sure alot of people here on this platform also have those who relocated abroad to Western countries. I also know many more who are intending to.

And the truth does not care whether you like it or not.

The West is not good for Africa period. They colonised the continent, extracted its wealth and they benefit from Africa being underdeveloped. China’s influence in Africa and the global south now is overwhelming. Who are African countries’ biggest trading partners? Whom has done most of the infrastructure projects in Africa in the past 20 years? Whom dominates Africa’s telecom infrastructure and tech in general? It is not the west. It is China. Heck even Russia is far better than any western country in Africa. The west has done nothing more than destroy that continent.
You think the West is free? Tell that Edward Snowden or Julian Assange. You can’t even post a meme on twitter without getting jailed here.

Migration to the West has slowed. In America, they experienced a negative migration rate in 2025. People from the global south in general are not flocking to the West anymore

Africa and generally Africans like the rest of the world do view the West as a declining civilisation. It’s a multipolar world just look at the US and Iran war. And no that group of Nigerians you listed is a highly specified group. Most Nigerians and Africans in the western largely end up in mediocrity. Heck many of them are even coming back now Z

It makes sense now cause you have a westernised view of the world.
The same USA that can’t even handle Iran that had to sign a deal with Iran the same country they claimed to have defeated is what you are defending.

The entire global south has gone red be in in trade, technology, infrastructure etc. China is way ahead. What influences Africa has is coming more from Beijing and Moscow not Washington, Brussels or London. You are spewing the usual western narrative coping about their decline.

Who said they are? As I said before, less people not just Nigerians but from the global south in general are flocking to western countries. The US had negative growth last year. More people left than came into the US in 2025. There are significantly fewer Africans flocking to the West. in the UK, net migration fell from roughly 944,000 in 2023 to around 171,000 in 2025. That’s a drop of about 82% from the peak.
People really do not see the western world as this pinnacle of human civilisation anymore but for the shithole it really is.
