there's a software on the dark web that allows for your account balance to be 'loaded' making it seem like money was added but will reverse to your real balance after a very short. In reality, no actual money would be credited to your account.
Sooooo, that software will increase my bank balance? And when I login on my bank app I will see that credit transaction?

My business was crashed within a month because of these kinds of transactions.

I honestly can't tell who was doing it to me, but almost 2M just vanished within that period and I'm back to ground zero.
Re: Lead University Students Caught Paying For Phones With Fake Alert (video) by mmsen: 3:51pm On Mar 21
What made them think they woulh get away with this?

Who doesn't check to ensure that the money has entered their account? Especially 5M?

If it true, it mean they won't be caught. Bcs if the owner of the shop will login and see the money, he won't notice until they have left. I think they do that by just credit alert SMS. No one can hack you bank app, Nah

Someone explain how this so-called fake alert works. Cos I’m thinking if I’m a retailer, I should be relying on notifications from my banking app. If someone does a transfer to my account and I login on my app and see a credit transaction of the same amount, are you telling me that these “fake alert” can reverse that transaction?
The answer is yes.
That's why it is called fake alert.
These guys living large are actually hurting people.

Highest level of mumuism. How do you think you can transfer #5m without the seller first confirming payment from his or her bank app before allowing you to leave with the phone.

in this particular case, I don't know what method they used but just take it as i have said it. The software exists. I won't mention the name because this is public forum.

because it isn't a real transaction, you won't have a real transaction showing the transfer. It's just your account balance that increases.

Den don disgrace their family...kai😕

Growing up there's one thing my dad do say repeatedly

"I did not spoil the name of my father, whatever you do don't spoil my name, that's the only thing I want from u" ...

Somehow, it stuck with me, and I think about it everytime 🤔.

Can't imagine what their parents and family members are going tru right now😤
The parents might no gooders and scammers as well. A good parent would not be happy seeing his non working son or daughter with an iPhone 17

What you are saying is impossible.

The topic has to do with fake sms alert.

A person cannot fake account balance on a bank because the account balance comes from a database through an A.P.I.

The only way to change account balance is to use photoshop or html viewer to edit it but the database only knows the original account balance and not the edited one.

Are you saying the Core Banking software for Nigerian banks can be penetrated by “rogue” apps such that these apps can “inflate” my balance? And this is me looking at the balance from the bank’s app? So say Zenith or Polaris or even Opay are that vulnerable?

I’m dead confused with what they are all saying my man! They are insinuating that these banks APIs are somehow open somewhere that a rogue app can “temporarily” update the DB such that the mobile app sees a “fake” balance!!!! I understand if a fake SMS alert displays a false balance. But a bank’s mobile app displaying a false balance is leaving stunned!

Tension and controversy have emerged in Ibadan following the public parade of individuals alleged to be students of Lead City University over a suspected fraud case involving the purchase of high-end mobile phones.

According to eyewitness accounts and circulating reports, the suspects were accused of attempting to acquire iPhones valued at approximately ₦5 million using a fake bank transfer. The transaction reportedly appeared successful at first, but was later discovered to be fraudulent after the payment could not be verified.

The individuals were subsequently apprehended and paraded publicly, drawing mixed reactions from residents and social media users. While some have condemned the alleged act, others have raised concerns about the public display of suspects without formal conviction.

Authorities have not yet released an official statement detailing the identities of the suspects or confirming whether formal charges have been filed. However, sources indicate that investigations are ongoing to determine the full circumstances surrounding the incident.

The case has reignited discussions around the rise of digital payment fraud and the need for stricter verification processes in high-value transactions, especially in a rapidly evolving cashless economy.

As the situation develops, legal experts continue to emphasize the importance of due process, noting that all accused persons are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

Any huge amount, ask your workers to delay the confirmation even if they saw it.
If possible, give the sender bottle water to relax if they're not your regular customer.

Some people are really wicked without remorse.

Just imagine if they had succeeded, the phone seller would have been in a big mess.

And they will be happy on the other end, as if they have not just crippled someone's business.

Oya, SMS alert is different from verifying your balance on the bank app, what they successfully did was SMS alert, but ii guess the dealer outsmart them by logging in the bank app to verify.
I mean if someone claimed to send you a whole 5m it did b dumb to just rely on only sms alert....
