Shettima To Receive Zamfara Governor Lawal Into APC Tuesday by InfoGuru118(op): 1:55am On Mar 22

Vice President Kashim Shettima is set to formally receive Zamfara State Governor, Dauda Lawal, into the All Progressives Congress (APC) on Tuesday, in what is expected to be a high-profile political event in the state.

Governor Lawal recently defected from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), alongside his deputy, cabinet members, and key supporters, citing internal crises within the party as a major reason for his decision.

The governor announced his defection while in Saudi Arabia through his deputy, Mani Mummuni, who also disclosed that preparations were underway for his formal reception into the ruling party.

As part of the arrangements, the Zamfara State Government has inaugurated a committee to coordinate the reception for the Vice President and ensure a seamless induction ceremony.

The committee, chaired by Deputy Governor Mummuni, comprises both loyalists of the governor and existing APC members.

According to a statement by Suleman Ahmad Tudu, the committee is tasked with promoting party unity and facilitating the smooth integration of new entrants into the APC.

Mummuni, while inaugurating the committee, urged members to discharge their responsibilities with diligence, stressing that Governor Lawal remains committed to fairness and inclusiveness within the party.

Also speaking, the Zamfara APC Chairman, Tukur Umar Danfulani, called on party supporters to embrace the development in good faith, describing it as a step towards building a united progressive front in the state.

The statement further revealed that the APC in Zamfara has recorded a significant boost in membership following the governor’s defection, with over 210,000 new members joining the party.

This brings the total membership in the state to more than 300,000, underscoring the governor’s grassroots influence.

The event is expected to mark a major political realignment in Zamfara State ahead of future electoral activities.

INEC should cancel the 2027 presidential election.

Use the budgeted funds to buy cat fish pepper soup and orange juice for every Nigerian.

It’s practically of no use going into that election and will just be a complete waste of funds!

Ola, Tinubu will only return elected if he's the only candidate on the ballot. But time is a gentleman. We all know why the governors are decamping. Dauda Lawal told us himself weeks before he decamped. The big question is, are the people decamping?

I think the reason I don't get it is because I'm not in APC.

Tinubu is a dictator in the likeness of Abacha, so they say.

The APC is the party of the devil, they wail daily.

The 2027 elections is going to be between the people and the APC, they assert.

No one blames the extremely greedy and selfish politicians.

No one blames the so-called opposition parties for their lack of cohesion and discipline.

No one blames PO for defecting from the LP which would have provided a better platform for him come 2027.

No one blames Atiku for initiating the disintegration of the PDP.

In short, no one blames no one else except Tinubu, the usual fall guy.

How Tinubu is able to whip all these politicians into line by ensuring their defection to his party (the APC) is worthy of being introduced as a course of study in political science in our tertiary institutions.

Ah yes… “opposition not serious” because they’re not making noise every week online.
Meanwhile, the biggest headline the ruling All Progressives Congress can boast of after years of consolidated power is photo-ops and political visits like Kashim Shettima receiving Dauda Lawal and many more political alignment.
No major structural reforms, no clear economic turnaround, no significant shift in insecurity metrics just optics and defections being packaged as “progress.”
If that’s the benchmark, then yes… the opposition is “not serious” for not competing in press releases.
Politics isn’t about who trends early; it’s about who delivers results people can actually feel. Nigerians aren’t blind to inflation, cost of living, or the daily realities on ground.
The real “stunt” in 2027 won’t be noise it will be accountability.

He was talking about Seyi Makinde of Oyo state who received 500m from the FG as palliative for the explosion in Ibadan.

There's no pathway to victory for opposition not because they're not serious but because PBAT has strangled and weaken the structures. It will be nothing short of miracle for opposition. But again in politics everything can sway in days.
