You will not understand the infrastructural deficit of this country until you step out of Nigeria Morocco is miles ahead of Nigeria in terms of having livable cities and accessible infrastructure, especially, transport infrastructure. These are the things that attracts tourists. Tourists wants to use the public bus and the transport systems to move round the cities and hinterlands Then the issue of the type of human beings inhabiting each country. Moving on our streets alone would induce fear to any tourist without a guide. The poverty level is also a factor - the quality of human beings matters a lot in terms of how countries are viewed. If you want to look at the quality of human beings in any country, take a look at the people on the street. Finally, the INSECURITY!!!!! Our problems are many |

SeverusSnape:I found myself discussing 9ja's cumbersome visa policy with a Nigerian embassy staff one day. He was adamant that millions of people apply for 9ja visa yearly, that what you (yours truly) know, that he's the one who knows as an embassy staff. I told him the visitors figures/statistics are out there and that compared to even Kenya, 9ja is nowhere. Despite our size, population, endowment, diversity, culture, etc. The olodo didn't get it. He said Europeans charge Nigerians a lot for their visas and Nigeria is doing great by reciprocating. Empty pride. I reminded him that the cost of a Nigeria multiple visa for some Europeans, is enough to buy a ticket to Morocco and pay for hotel for the weekend. No visa. Yet Moroccans need visas to much of Europe. Moreover, visitors to 9ja mostly have some 9ja family/marriage ties. Or are expatriates or for business that largely economically favour them more than 9ja. That is before you even factor the 9ja insecurity factor in. I insisted Nigeria should not always react emotionally to Western policies, but in a calculated way to take money from Europeans via tourism. Kenya, Uganda and Tanzania have long introduced a common visa arrangement for tourists. I don't need a visa to Morocco, Tunisia or even Uganda. But if had to present a 9ja document, I would need visas to all. They have cleverly exempted Western tourists bringing hard currencies. Morocco gets well over 7% of its GDP from tourism. They don't have much natural resources. |

promami:What good has Africanism brought? By the way those four are doing far better than the 'African' countries. Libya that evil Obama destroyed has rebuilt most of its cities, and boasts of better infrastructure than most African cities. I agree with those four refusing to identify as African countries. Africa? |

You are expecting to see country of particular concerns on the list, you are decieving yourself. Nigeria can only surface when you see categories of (1)Terrorism .(2). Corruption. (3). Poverty HQ (4). Kidnapping. (5).Bad Healthcare System etc |

| Re: Most Visited African Countries By International Tourists by Amalekki: 4:12pm On Mar 22 |
If I'm not a Nigerian I would be raving mad to go through the stress of entering Nigeria twice (except large personal revenue is involved)! Sad reality. Even as a Nigerian, it's still hard. On top what?? *There are improvements but we can do a lot better. Hope the new design of MMIA Lagos would fix some of the issues but there is absolutely no reason why an international airport should be easily accessible to all sorts of touts and clowns. It is the first impression of your "homeland" for most visitors. However our train terminals (especially the new ones in Yaba, Agege, Abeokuta and Ibadan) are very good and must be well maintained. |
