The Sultan of Sokoto, Alhaji Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar, has demanded a free, fair and transparent 2027 election in Nigeria.

According to the royal father, credible elections are important towards achieving a stable country.

Naija News reports that the Sultan made the call in a statement issued by the Secretary-General of the Jama’atu Nasril Islam (JNI), Prof. Khalid Abubakar Aliyu.

In the statement, he called for the descalation of the Iran – USA/Israel war in the Middle East as well as every other part of the world troubled by conflicts.

The traditional ruler stressed the need for global peace, stability and security.

He submitted that if allowed to fester, wars bring about food shortages and negatively affect the global economy.

“The Sultan of Sokoto and president-general, Jama’atu Nasril Islam (JNI), felicitates with the Nigerian Muslim Ummah and by extension the world on the successful completion of the 1447 AH (2026) Ramadan fast and observance of the Eid-el-Fitr.

“May the occurrence be a time for deeper reflections of our actions and prays for stability, peace, joy and blessings to all Muslims, as well as our loved ones.

“May Allah, the Most High, accept all our fasting and overlook our shortcomings therein. May Allah, as well accept our respective supplications and good deeds during the Ramadan, and may He continue to shower His grace upon us in the days and months ahead. Amin.

“Nigerian Muslims are urged not to forget Sittah-Shawwal, i.e the six-days recommended fasting by the Prophet (SAW) which follows the Ramadan fast. In line with our earlier calls, we reiterate our call to the Muslim faithful to intensify prayers for self and the Ummah against all manners of misfortunes and seek Allah’s relief, particularly that the 2027 general elections are fast approaching.

“Hence, we use this medium to call on all stakeholders to be introspective and work assiduously towards credible, free, fair and transparent elections, for a stable Nigeria in 2027. A stable Nigeria must first exist before it is governed.

Historically, wars have no good omen; it remains more of a destructive tool that affects negatively the human capital index. More so, if allowed to fester, it will significantly affect the world food chain and generally the economy, leading to impoverishment, which will invariably be too dangerous to countries like Nigeria, because of our fragility,” the sultan said.

Ever since I learnt that the sultan of Sokoto can be dethroned like a common school head boy, I stopped placing much weight on his statements. It is just a ceremonial office with no backing under the law.
Why should a governor have more power than the occupant of such an exulted seat?

Free,impartial,fair and credible elections...this is all the good people of Nigeria are asking for.We need to send some thiefing politicians back to their villages,we need a breath of fresh air. We are tired of being the poverty capital of the world,4th most terrorized nation on earth,worst or deteriorating electricity supply,high cost of living,unavailable and unaffordable health system,skyrocketing cost of education,increasingly disappointing judiciary,politics over drowning economy,uncontrolled international debts,puppet and toothless legislative,weak electoral laws,the list is endless.

This terrorist sponsor has crawled out of his cave ever since the Genocide-denying regime spent 10 million dollars to lobby congress.

See him speaking as if he cares about people's welfare. I mean, who doesn't know that the Christian Genocide happening in Nigeria is sponsored by the Sultan of Sokoto.

Great point. Tinubu, in APC, faced and defeated the most influential Northern supremacists and born-to-rule hegemonists including the then President Buhari and his powerful Fulani cabal who did not wish to hand over power to a Southerner.

Obi fled PDP rather than face Atiku, Tambuwal, Sule Lamido, Bala Mohammed as Wike bravely did.

I don't know how those people do not understand that Obi's actions is an indictment they are frightened of Fulanis and only able to antagonise their fellow Southerners.

They have no mouth to talk at all because events played out that showed they are about empty chest-beating only.
