The Bola Tinubu has reportedly thrown his support behind Bola Oyebamiji for the upcoming Osun State governorship election, leaving incumbent Governor Ademola Adeleke without presidential backing.

According to a statement from the Oyebamiji media office, signed by Adebayo Adedeji, the decision is based on Oyebamiji’s demonstrated capacity and performance, contrasting with what the APC described as neglect of federal projects under Adeleke’s administration.

The statement highlighted stalled and underutilized federal facilities, including the Child and Mother Care Hospital in Osogbo, which has been inactive for over three years, the 80-bed SDG Hospital in Ipetumodu abandoned since 2023, and the Skills Acquisition Centre in Iragbiji. Even the Alternative High School for Girls in Osogbo, facilitated by the First Lady, Oluremi Tinubu, has reportedly not been properly utilized.

The Osun APC further criticized Adeleke’s handling of a 2024 federal debt relief initiative, noting that while the state’s debt was reduced by nearly ₦60 billion, his administration allegedly misrepresented the achievement as its sole accomplishment.

“President Tinubu recognizes leadership capacity and has clearly seen the potential in Asiwaju Bola Oyebamiji to reposition Osun State on the path of sustainable growth and prosperity. His continued support for AMBO’s aspiration is rooted in competence, performance, and vision—not political opportunism,” the statement read.

The party called on Governor Adeleke and his associates to refrain from involving the President’s name in political propaganda, emphasizing that Tinubu’s support is anchored in performance and commitment to development rather than political affiliation.

Did he support him in his 1st term? Despite his game plan, his candidate still lost. Adeleke doesn't have a contender in osun, as far as the state is concerned. They had tasted the apc regime already. Had the man not paid the LGA salary with the family's wealth for 8 good months, a lot of them would have died of hunger and I've never seen such a caring public servant before. You don't neglect such a good man.

Moreover, I've not heard in a very long time that civil servants in the state protested over emoluments, except those who want to offend God.

But Adeleke is supporting tinubu for president so tinubu must return the favour because he needs Adeleke and also because he never turns down a good deal. tinubu is not emotional about petty political fighting when a good deal is on the table..

I believe Adeleke has no clue what he's doing in government house & doesn't understand what governance is all about.

A governor that couldn't pass ordinary WAEC, dancing shoki up and down in Osun with little to no achievement. If we talk dem go say na Davido uncle say that's enough for Osun people. Nonsense.

Greedy people, they rejected Adeleke’s defection to the APC. Things have changed now, Adeleke is gaining popularity and might win re-election. The fact that Adeleke said he will support Tinubu’s re-election suggests that there is a deal.

Tinubu is a party man unlike the previous one that supported Adeleke during his first term election.

Tinubu won't support Adeleke because Adeleke is in the opposition and in the last general elections, Adeleke supported Atiku.

See nonsense talk. What's Adeleke's business with federal government's project? If you were not ready to manage it, why did you build it? Very stupid excuse. Maybe he should start managing OAUTHC too because it's in Osun state. Lol.

Those of us in Osun didn't even know there's any debt relief because other things we see Adeleke doing superceeds that. So saying he's parading debt relief as his sole achievement is only sensible to gullible people. I've never even heard him mention it. And let's even assume he's parading it as his only achievement, how's that anyone's problem? Use it to campaign against him nah.

What is Oyebamiji's leadership capacity? Half salary as finance commissioner? Lol. Imagine being commissioner of finance for 8 years and what you couldn't do with debt relief that time, someone else did it under 4 years. E dey pain person. grin

Tinubu won't support Adeleke because Adeleke is in the opposition and in the last general elections, Adeleke supported Atiku.

Payback for what exactly? Even if he supported Tinubu, Osun will still vote whomever Osun wants to vote for. Osun is not a state any politician can pocket. We supported him when he dropped Ribadu as presidential candidate. Osun state was the only state Ribadu won, the records are there.

Adeleke doesn't need Tinubu's support. Infact at this stage, Tinubu's support will only make him lose more voters because Adeleke's performance in Osun is in direct contrast to Tinubu's disappointing performance at federal level. So Adeleke does not need Tinubu's support, but Tinubu definitely needs Adeleke and Osun state's support.

Nobody in Osun needs his support.
They will be in one Accord in August. It was a clean sweep in 2023, if anyone will defeat Imole, it's not Igbin's candidate.

Why do Adeleke need the presidency to win elections? What happened to needing the citizens?

Governance is now all about pleasing the presidency rather than serving the people. This is the new politics since APC came into power. Any State that is not APC, cause chaos,hardship and staff them of federal support to deliver good governance. We can see where the country is heading.
Nigerians and Osun people had better stand up against this nonsense politics APC is doing. Support their governor. Tinubu will not be there forever and su will shine after the rain on them. If they go back to Tinubu, they will just be going back to live in bondage. Adeleke should go and get ready to put up a good fight....
