The Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission, ICPC, has announced that the former Governor of Kaduna State, Malam Nasir El-Rufai , alongside Joel Adoga, will be arraigned at the Federal High Court of Nigeria in the Kaduna Judicial Division on Tuesday, 24th March 2026.

This notice was signed by John Okor Odey, Head, Media and Public Communications on Monday.

The case, filed under suit number FHC/KD/73/2026, includes charges ranging from conversion of and possession of public property to money laundering.

According to the notice, another charge has been filed against El-Rufai and Amadu Sule (LEDA) at the Kaduna State High Court, under case number KDH/KAD/ICPC/01/26.

The charges in this case cover abuse of office, fraud, intent to commit fraud, and conferring undue advantage, among others.

Both cases were filed by the ICPC on 18th March 2026.

While the date for El-Rufai’s arraignment at the State High Court will be communicated by the court in due time, the ICPC confirmed that he has been duly served.

The Commission reiterated its commitment to due process and the rule of law in handling cases.

Charge: “Interception of the National Security Adviser’s Phone Call”

Judge: Prosecutor, proceed.

Prosecutor: On Friday, February 13, 2026, Mr. Nasir claimed that someone tapped the phone call of the National Security Adviser and provided the information to him.

Judge: Do you have evidence that the phone call of the NSA was intercepted?

Prosecutor: Yes, My Lord.

Judge: What is your evidence?

Prosecutor: He said it himself. His own admission is my evidence.

Defense: My Lord, are we now prosecuting people for what they say without proof that the act occurred?

Rise and fall of what extremist? When did he become an extremist? Was it before or after he made Tinubu president? This isn't new to Elrufai. He will always defeat his enemies. Just sit back and enjoy the ride. What happened to the 423 billion naira allegation and the wiretapping devices found at his residence? It has now been reduced to intent to commit fraud? Under dictator Buhari, political parties thrived, he didn't suspend an elected governor under the guise of state of emergency just to compel him to decamp, he didn't detain anyone for over 30 days without charge, he didn't award multi-trillion naira projects to business partners without procurement and he certainly didn't induce governors with our collective patrimony to get them to decamp. That you choose to deny it does not make it untrue. Elrufai made Tinubu president.

The demand for bail
Court would adjourn to hear the bail applications for say 3 days to 2 weeks

He would then be granted bail maybe with conditions limiting him to Kaduna
