That is completely FALSE! Your reference does not need to have any specific amount of money in their bank accounts to be a reference for you o! What would they need it for? And who will even give that information to NLNG? Background checks costs a lot of money per GT for NLNG to add “reference minimum balance” as another criteria.

Wherever you heard it from, it’s not true. It also the same way silly rumours go around that NLNG GT roles have already been given to children of big politicians in Nigeria.

Let me re-emphasise, your reference does not need to have a certain minimum balance in their bank accounts for them to qualify as reference.

For the abroad training, you're actually correct; I once worked in a company that does training for OG guys and have met several of NLNG's senior staff there. That was around 2022, so one of them told me, "Initially, NLNG paid them in dollars during his own time as GT, but things have changed now due to the naira depreciation, but still, their pay is still very good. When you enter, you literally won't even think of resigning. If you would resign, it's either because you went to start your own company or you moved to major IOCs, and when they go abroad, they pay them both their salary and the usual lump sum of allowances abroad.

"He said when he came back, lol, he entered the bank with huge money, and all the staff were like, 'How did this guy make so much money like this?' till they saw his ID. We still chat once in a while, but there's nothing like "PLS HELP ME GET IN." He told me point-blank in 2022 to enter with Connect; it's almost impossible. Things might change a bit this time around, but still, the NLNG process is always FAIR. If there's any company in Nigeria that does recruitment on a fair basis, I'll rank NLNG 1.

Okay boss. Well firstly you have to be a Nigerian graduate with atleast 2:1 and an nysc certificate/exemption letter. Secondly, u apply online and wait to be shortlisted for their test, if u succeed in the test which might come in one or two stages like ours that's 2 stages of test, u proceed to accessment center where interview and other activities will take place. If successful in the accessment center stage, u proceed to medical evaluation after which offer letter comes in stating date of resumption and other meaningful information. So bro that's basically it.
P.S: your NYSC date of completion have certain restrictions, this current one is 2021 upwards.

And how true is that they have quota like federal character in their recruitment of GTs to balance it across all Nigerian geopolitical zone?

Lol, legit... When I literally heard it from the source directly, not 1 or 2 of them, what the person would have asked is, "What year did he enter?" rather than to say it's not true.

Well, that's the limit I can go; everyone is entitled to his/her opinion. What's most important now is what's ahead, AC.

S/he is an ex-GT. 2007 GT and possibly a current employee. I wouldn’t brush his comments aside the way you have done.

I too had some reservations about some of the dollar part you mentioned but I’m not really one to “drag” those little things. Per diem may have been paid in FX when on training abroad, but salaries and all other emoluments are definitely in NGN.

I applied for this recruitment with my 2.2 grade.
I just wanted to try my luck despite not meeting the 2.1 requirement.

Surprisingly I was invited to and have completed the first and second assessment.
My question is if I'm invited for the next stage (AC) and my documents are reviewed will I be shamed and disqualified?

Hmm only NLNG knows. You know sometimes this shortlisting process is automated as no H.R really have the time to sort out thousands of applicants. so some people will be lucky I know of guys who didn't upload any documents but were shortlisted too despite instructions stated there that without those documents they won't be considered. I think the only time when they will be physically involved in the sorting of applicants is after accessment stage. Besides some 2:2 grads are even more intelligent than first class grads they were just products of wicked lecturers and bad marking schemes or strenuous academic environment. know of a guy that had to combine schooling with working and graduated with 2:2 despite being very intelligent cos there was no one funding him. That being said, I wish u Goodluck my bro as it will really be a huge testimony for u if u get this job regardless of the 2:2 grade as that will provide a lot of encouragement for other peeps and moreover the 2:1 minimum is to reduce the number of applicants not because 2:2 and other classes of degree are less intelligent. Assuming there was no degree restriction ofcourse for a job like NLNG you'll literally have millions of applications. So once again, Goodluck bro.
