NGF Submits State Police Framework To NSA, Seeks NASS Backing by Pakute(op): 3:06pm On Mar 23
The Nigeria Governors Forum (NGF) has submitted its input on the proposed state police framework to the Office of the National Security Adviser, with the document set to be forwarded to the National Assembly of Nigeria for legislative consideration.

The Chairman of the forum and Kwara State governor, Abdulrahman AbdulRazaq, disclosed this on Sunday during a meeting with Bola Tinubu at his residence in Ikoyi, Lagos.

AbdulRazaq explained that consultations on the establishment of state police are ongoing among security stakeholders under the leadership of the National Security Adviser, noting that governors have now formally contributed to the process.

“On the issue of state police, discussions are ongoing amongst various security organisations, led by the National Security Advisor, and the NGF has made its contribution. “That document will be taken to the National Assembly to see how we can have a legislative framework for state police,” the governor stated.

He reaffirmed the commitment of state governors to strengthening collaboration with security agencies to tackle insecurity, while also advancing infrastructure and improving citizens’ welfare.

“As governors, we commit to renew our collaboration with security forces to defeat terrorism steadily, expand infrastructure opportunities and improve outcomes of lives of our people,” AbdulRazaq said.

The NGF chairman also congratulated the President on his recent state visit to the United Kingdom, describing the trip as historic and impactful.

“We congratulate you on the successful state visit to the United Kingdom and the many successes, investment proposals achieved during the trip.

“While our nation has always enjoyed good relationship with the United Kingdom, the state visit, the first in 37 years, is bold and significant. It speaks to new leadership in Nigeria,” he stated.

He expressed optimism that agreements reached during the visit would deepen bilateral ties and yield economic benefits for Nigerians.

“We are confident that the bilateral agreements presently signed and the new approach on issues of shared interest will strengthen existing relationship between Nigeria and the United Kingdom and will bring more prosperity to our people,” he said.

AbdulRazaq further commended Tinubu’s implementation of the Renewed Hope agenda, saying it has inspired greater national participation.

“Your Excellency, we thank you for prosecuting the Renewed Hope agenda in a way that has made Nigerians proud more than ever before.

“Every Nigerian now has a stake in nation-building. We believe that this will translate to improved security in every part of our country,” he stated. He stressed the importance of collective responsibility in addressing security challenges nationwide.

“Together, we must see that breaches of security all over the country come to an end.” The governor also urged Nigerians, particularly leaders, to embrace values that promote unity and stability.

He said, “Together, we must see that breaches of security all over the country come to an end.” AbdulRazaq added.

“As you can see here today, we have about 25 governors who, at short notice, it’s a respect we have for you and the leadership you’re providing for the nation.” Also present at the meeting were Vice President Kashim Shettima, Chief of Staff to the President Femi Gbajabiamila, and other senior government officials.

Good step in the right direction.... hopefully this would come to fruition which will mean more task and accountability for most of the lazy governor's in this country.

And also, decentralizing security will make it more easier to handle especially in present day Nigeria.

That's a very good development also they should mandate everyone to have at least 3 years military training or better still they should cancel NYSC and replace it with compulsory 2 years military training.

These Governors are the most ridiculous bunch of jokers in the world right now. Apart from bragging about fat allocations, in other areas they're useless.

Sowore called Gov Otti a failure but some kids were angry and hitting themselves on the floor. Very few of these Governors are doing something a bit tangible in their states.

But we can't really blame them than the set of bitter people who ignore the incompetence of their state Governors but focus on Abuja all day every hour. Why won't they mismanage the fortunes of their states, especially when they now receive huge amount of allocations which ordinarily should help towards the demands of the people of their respective states.

The Presidency had been running after these Governors to submit reports on state police since 2024 yet they refused to comply. The Vice President gave a deadline, they failed the deadline too. I'm much disappointed in the Northern Governors whom you expect to be at the forefront of pushing the state police but they're so laid back at it.

The President signed electricity law since 2024, till now no Governor has started practical execution in their states, no state is generating power much less distributing it to the residents yet power has been decentralized constitutionally.

And you see people who are obsessed with Tinubu always crying and wailing about power in the country when they can call out the Governors of their states to provide them with power as being enshrined in the constitution. What are the fat allocations all about if you can't generate and distribute power in your state?.

In Agriculture, the scored zero. The Governors are the custodian of all the lands in the state. I haven't seen any of them with concrete agricultural programs promoting food sufficiency, partnering with higher institutions in their states to cultivate foods, granting subventions to farmers to plant and harvest foods for their respective state. Yet they collecting much money.

They left everything on the President alone.

If the federal constitution and police can be relegated by religious one while they were the only official options. Imagine what these savages will do with a state police under a failed federal structure.
I pity the northern Christians when that demonic step scale through. These are states with shambolic IGR and economy. They cannot even fund 10% of their lifestyle and are so prone to politics at the expense of growth.

It is easier to establish state police now than before because we already have some state security outfits like Amotekun. They can serve as benchmark for a proper state police.

In Nigeria, our problem is never the system but the people. Unfortunately, the people cannot save themselves because the majority of the people are wicked, veiled and easily corruptable.
Trust me the situation may worsened under state police than in the former.

God bless the blessed.

Tinubu, a bad man with good intentions.

A number of states have been generating power for a while, even before Tinubu came to office.

PBAT should ensure that those Governors he trusts are behind him solidly first.

State Police would give enormous powers to Governors to influence election results if it goes awry.

State Police is good for the citizens but may be counter productive for the President.
Re: NGF Submits State Police Framework To NSA, Seeks NASS Backing by Obaofaba: 3:04pm On Mar 24
They should hasten up on it.

Let every village, town, local government, and state police themselves using the locals.

If they fail, then they fail themselves and family.

This is what I expected the governors to have done since, not waiting for the president to initiate state police, that is supposed to be a state internal business.

Governors are like president of their state, they should wake up, especially southern governors.
Re: NGF Submits State Police Framework To NSA, Seeks NASS Backing by Image123(m):
Imagine the president giving the state so much freedom in multiple allocations, ability to generate electricity for themselves, create state police, and free up their local governments for development. Almost 100% came back shocked and paralysed with nothing to show for it over many months now. They were never prepared to govern. ALL failures tarring roads and paying salaries.
i read some ingrate say "number of states have been generating power for a while". What this hypocrisy forgot to say is that it is the same Jagaban that brought up the idea as a state governor and worked hard on it to make Lagos most advanced in IPPs, followed far behind by states like Ogun, Rivers and Edo. He would refuse to tell you that states could not generate in large areas except areas outside the national grid. He tried to water it down without telling us how these states had powered rural, remote and isolated communities since they've been generating power for a while. SMH

•Are These Not Same Governors - that Can Not Implement The Supreme Court Judgement Decision on the Opening Accounts For The Local Govts Councils - Different From Their States Account?
Ask Your States Governors - WHY HAVE THEY REFUSED TO IMPLEMENT THE COURT JUDGEMENT -⁉️
Because,
•they Are Not ACCOUNTABLE,
• they Are Not TRANSPARENT 🪟 and
• they Are Not Open To PROBITY!

any state policing must avoid the rotten backbone of the failed federal outfit. it cannot be started on the backs of thugs and the head should be elective.
for any semblance of sanity, base entry must be pegged on WAEC education level in addition to some form of artisan certificate or evidence of current engagement.

To guard against abuse by state governors, the position of state attorney general should be decoupled from the position of state Commissioner of Justice. The position of State attorney general should then be made elective just like the position of State Governor. All matters of prosecution at the state level should be handled by the Office of the State Attorney General. This will guard against frivolous arrest and prosecution by the State Police. The responsibility of the state police would be to effect arrests while the Office of the State Attorney General will determine whether to prosecute or otherwise

In addition, the electoral system needs to be further strengthened in order to ensure that the people retain the ultimate power to hire or fire their elected officials if they go out of line.

Nigeria isn't America.....the American system is far more stable than ours.....over there you can run a stresss test on the system and already have full idea of projected outcomes but here, you never know what would happen so you need to manage it gradually........state police isn't something you can just create by executive and legislative flat......the frame work hasn't even been drafted for public perusal.......you need to calm down and follow through thoroughly .
