Funny nairalanders.

See everyone mentioning between 500k to millions?

A country where most governors are struggling to implement ordinary 70k minimum wage.

Since all of you are big boys and big girls,I think it is safe to say tinubu is doing well.

Depends on if with kids or not.

Without kids, 700k

With kids, 1m plus 500k per extra head in the house
That's the exact truth. Anybody earning below 700k as a single should be considered poor. Also earning 1m as a married person with two kids should be considered poor too.

Bro, you spoke my mind... In this lagos with family, you need over 1-2m to live averagely comfortable.

Good evening everyone.

Let’s have a real and honest discussion. With the current cost of living, things have changed a lot compared to a few years ago. Prices of food, transport, rent, and basic needs have all increased.

At the same time, many people are still earning around the same income or only slightly more. So it raises an important question:

How much does someone actually need monthly to live comfortably in Nigeria today?

Not luxury, just a decent and stable life.

Let’s break it down realistically:

Rent
Feeding
Transportation
Data and subscriptions
Family responsibilities
Savings (if possible)

For some people, ₦100k may not be enough.
For others, even ₦300k might still feel tight depending on lifestyle and location.

Everyone’s situation is different, but it would be interesting to hear real experiences.

So let’s be honest:

How much do you think someone needs monthly to live comfortably in Nigeria in 2026, and why?

cheesy This is the reality. People earning 100k will think that we are just yapping and 300k will be enough for them. When they get there, they will understand.

savings is important to me. i can manage 150k in a month, but my old age and my luxury is my concern... i need money that will make me to be saving like 1M in a month, so that i can build a house in a remote area, buy car. then, I'm okay
Re: How Much Do You Need Monthly To Live Comfortably In Nigeria In 2026? by Obainomilano: 12:57pm On Mar 25
No but if u live in maiduguri u are a definately gonna need more than money to survive there because of Boko boys which is not the same with Abuja ..
idtiwo:
Where you stay in Nigeria is a major factor that needs to be considered to be able to answer the question.

What you will need to survive in Abuja is not the same as if you live in Maiduguri.

U guys are just unrealistic with yur comments
I can bet most of you guys are living in dream world
The truth is dat no amount can be ok

This is the major reason I prefer death to life right now. Nigeria has completely wrecked me.
And if you call for help, Nobody will even answer u.
Some will read your message and ignore you. Some will politely decline to help, others will mock u.

Where is humanity in all these?
Humanity is gone
Bad governance is the reason. Shun selling your votes

I was shocked to read these comments o!

See Nigerian youth na... And, a lot of them are living fairly well on way less than that currently.

Many of our citizens confuse Comfort with Extravagance... Or maybe they simply think they are the same due to what the general mindset has become.

This question is subjective.

Depends on where in Nigeria you live.

Also depends on if you are married or single and if married, how many kids you have.

If you live in Lagos, Abuja, Portharcourt, if you are single, you will need NGN250,000 to NGN300,000 monthly.

If you are married with 2 kids, you will need between NGN700,000 to NGN1,000,000.

for each extra kid add NGN100,000.

If you live on the Island like Lekki phase 1, Ikoyi, V.I, VGC, Chevron, etc, add NGN500,000 to what I mentioned above.

Naija make una come hire me as Naija statistician, where Emi lokan people Oya I am available for appointment grin cheesy

Re: How Much Do You Need Monthly To Live Comfortably In Nigeria In 2026? by Lifeless101: 1:04pm On Mar 25
Currently earning 224k monthly
Honestly, to save is a big problem.
Like now, I have just N500 in my Opay and I left it there to recharge my NEPA

Nigeria is too rough.

I think, I will need 500k monthly to live comfortably.
