Why do some teachers keep quiet during staff meeting

Because they have nothing to say.

Because anything you said will be used against you.
It's better to be quiet than misunderstood.

Freedom of speech you have, but freedom after speech, not guaranteed.

It is better to be quiet and thought a f**l than to speak and erase all doubt.

Have they gotten another better job?

Speaking the truth to the authority especially if it is private, without Union body is dangerous.

Just nob in agreement to every rubbish spilling out by the people in charge and move on, while patiently waiting for ripe chance to Japa!

People who keep quiet during staff meetings do so for a number of reasons. Some do so because they genuinely have nothing to say. Some don't care what you do or do not do as a company, they just want to do their jobs, get paid their meagre salary, and move on with their lives. Others know that no matter what they say, the bosses will still do what they want to do. Some have good ideas they can bring forward but feel they're not being paid enough for that extra input or stress.
