Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu embraced a Mossad plan to spark a popular uprising at the start of the Iran war and is frustrated that those promises have not come to pass, according to a new report.

The report in The New York Times, published Sunday and citing current and former US and Israeli intelligence officials, says that Netanyahu discussed the plan when persuading US President Donald Trump to go to war against the Islamic Republic.

But it said US and Israeli officials now view the chances of regime change with skepticism and believe that conditions do not appear ripe for a popular uprising. Fears of a repeat of January’s murderous crackdown on demonstrators and danger from the US-Israeli bombing campaign have chilled prospects for more protests.

Israeli officials are still holding out hope of regime change, but the fact that a rebellion has yet to take place has dismayed Netanyahu, according to the Times. “Behind the scenes,” it said, Netanyahu “has expressed frustration that Mossad’s promises to foment revolt in Iran have not materialized.”

In one security meeting early in the war, the prime minister “complained that the plan was not working,” and vented that Trump “could decide to halt the campaign at any moment.”

If that was in the "to do" list and hasn't come to fruition the It's only natural that the owner of the list will be frustrated......even if this war comes to a premature end Israel's resolve to destroy Iran will only grow stronger because of what Iran has demonstrated so far.....but whether or not they'll be able to achieve their goal someday remains to be seen.

The killing of an 86 year old terminally ill Khameini was a very bad decision. It was a brutal and callous act that only serves to massage the ego of Netanyahu. Iranians may not be totally on the side of the Ayotollahs, but watching a man of that stature murdered so randomly with his wife and grandchild can sway emotions..

Lots of Iranians might want the Ayotollahs to leave. But it is also very easy for them to see that embedded in the plans of the US and Isreal is a desire to more else annihilate Iran. No person from a proud culture like that of the Persians will happily allow that. Iranians might not want to "take the opportunity" and revolt because they sense that doing so may be the beginning of the end of Iran.

Imagine these guys. So they use the citizens to crate crises in the nation so as to play coup and change the government. Yet they will still be the one to still say they are in support of democracy.
The game is this:
Create uprising in the nation
Sponsor an opposition who will act like activist to pressurise the government and ginger the citizens to fight against the government
Through the uprising, the military will come in as a coup to call the nation
Then these same set of bad countries will still fight against the military that they want democracy.

I said it several times on this forum that Trump and Uncle Benji's grand plan was to create serious disunity and chaos among the citizens of Iran and possibly the entire Middle East.

This plan scattered when the majority of the citizens united after the death of their supreme leader.

If Iran had imploded after the first wave of attacks, Trump would have taken control of the nation's leadership and engineered the installation of a puppet he and his media can control.
