Say no more sir,

That's it all.

tasalanoni:
It has nothing to do with being the nation's capital. It's more of a question of the priority of a people. In industrialized countries, capital cities nearly always double as manufacturing hubs and active economic centres. It's a different case in Nigeria where looting and misrule are key priorities, hence the capital city also becomes the epicenter of institutionalized criminality.
Everything about Abuja reflects this reality and that's why luxury sells well without the productivity driving it.. just loot, loot and continue looting.

Re: Life In Abuja by emmy4real94(m): 4:28pm On Mar 26
One truck contains 12 20-liters of water, at 3000 naira that should last u a week. In a whole month u spend 12k having abundant water.

Lets talk about electricity,
U ll spend atleast 100k a month to power ur fridge, fan/AC, charge devices else life wil feel like the cavemen thousands of years ago

Well for me,I must have water in abundant supply because there's so much washing and cleaning to be done and I can't stand filth .

Culture shocks as follows
1. Very hot 🔥 breeze is oven baked
2. One chance is real
3. Police are more friendlier
5. No lights no water
6. Mama put taste better than continental
7. Zuba & nyanya parks offers even direct London flights there
8. Babes bills premium rate
9. 🚨 Sirens noise frequently high
10. Suya & kilishi tastes better
Not everything here is True.

Compare to other states..
There's abundant light and abundant water in abuja. Which area of abuja u dey talk about?

Nothing promising in Abuja, unless you have enough capital to start a business
Re: Life In Abuja by emmy4real94(m): 4:38pm On Mar 26
You are missing the point but just to be clear some houses though with a borehole their water drys uo during some seasons.
Especially within abuja where some houses are buit on hills.
In my estate our borehole is over 100 meters and the houses across the street on hills drilled over 170 meters yet stil lack water.
Just like there are areas with constant electricity while other areas barely see 10 hr electricity in a month.

So we are simply making a comparison. I’d rather go for constant electricity lacking water than abundant water with no electricity

I haven't lived there but have visited there a couple of times. The thing I am worried about is its distance from the city center and the fact that it looks mountainous. with rocks, like a place bandits will like to hibernate and commit. For me, security is my main concern as the boys are gradually becoming more and more daring. Also water, omo i can manage without light but not water. I wonder why you said you prefer to manage without water and have light. Anyway, one man's food ...
Re: Life In Abuja by higgs: 4:44pm On Mar 26
God bless you for saying this.Truly, apart from real estate,Abuja has no real economy, only looting of government money. Whenever young graduates tell me they want to move to Abuja for nysc or better job prospects, I always advise them to move to Lagos, Ogun,Anambra etc Ofcourse another industry that is doing well in Abuja is prostitution aka "runs"
Spreadlove8888:
Same as my own thoughts too

Only infrastructures
Roads
Crossovers
Bridges
Street lights
Real estate and other stuffs

But no active manufacturing industry like we have in the south.

Or it is because it's the national capital?

quote author=tasalanoni post=138897389]Abuja is one hell of an overrated place. It doesn't have its own economy beyond politics and looting. People who haven't traveled to civilized countries would equate it to a paradise.. Everything there requires one stupid Aboki connection or the other.
If I were to be given the option of living in the best parts of Abuja or similar living standards places in Lagos, I'd choose Lagos anyday anytime.
Real dumb ass city. Fake life, weak economy outside of politics, zero mental stimulation and ingenuity beyond real estate, scrambling for connection, lazy folks heavily dependent on stolen public funds, no active industries. Just infrastructure that preserves the ruling class.

We cope by depending on each other when there is "other"
Re: Life In Abuja by kaludestiny10(m): 4:50pm On Mar 26
The aspect of poor economic activity is a big minus for Abuja. It's either one is a politician, civil servant or business owner before one can survive in Abuja. There are no industries in Abuja.

The thing I like about Abj is the quiet streets. No noise. I hate the noise in Lagos and tightness..but Lagos has better light and water

Bwari is not in Abuja.
Bwari is in FCT.
Better to say Life in FCT or Bwari.

To a large extent abuja is secure. Those mountains helps to regulate the temperature and it keeps the temperature cool. I once stayed in dutse close to ushafa and it's a fairly good suburban settlement.

Asides those maibola stealing once a while, ushafa is generally safe.

You have different markets close by ( bwari and dutse market). There is usman dam close by so water should not be a problem . I am not too sure about the light situation.

With 1k along taxis should take u to town

Abuja is a nice place. Try and make friends and avoid the temptation of not exploring the city. However you would need money and mobility would be an added advantage

Re: Life In Abuja by KingAzubuike(f): 6:34pm On Mar 26
Overrated city.
Very dull.

You need a car else you go suffer small. Infact once 8pm don dey catch you for outside, just go find one nearby bush sleep.

No industries, economy relies mainly on politics.

Abuja ain't for hustlers, not ideal for hustlers at all.

Intimidation is real , everyone wanna show they're someone big or related to someone big.
Re: Life In Abuja by SeriouslySense(m): 6:40pm On Mar 26
If you have money, you will enjoy Abuja, serene, good roads, very neat, there are still some economy for businesses and some sectors like Health cares, ICT, technology, tourism and off course real estate grin

I love Abuja, but i notice bandits are beginning to encroach its outskirts and this is greatly affecting the agricultural value chain. Once farmers are affected by bandits the value chain is is affected.

The weather is not as hot as southern Nigerian, in south of Nigeria humidity plus heat is more dangerous. While it can be very hot in the afternoon, it will be very cold at night, so you sleep well compared to when there is heat and high humidity undecided

South is for learning high skills and industry, Abuja for relaxation, cry

Abuja will pick up eventually economically, if it remains safe and stable.

13. Poor and retrogressive street mentality.

Depends on your energy needs, solar can cost you less than 2 million naira.
