Gbam. Band locking and 5G frequency locking are best for 5G NSA; otherwise, you will experience signal drops.It’s not plug-and-play because 5G NSA depends on a stable 4G anchor band. If the device keeps switching bands automatically, it can cause instability and drops. When my ODU was on 4G, I had no issues using it that way, but once on 5G NSA, proper band and frequency locking became necessary for a stable connection.

You can choose 4G only and leave the bands all active. It's not ZTE problem but Airtel/Nigeria problem. Every other router would have done the same. We don't have standalone 5G yet.

Yea, you know you were saying the ZTE is not plug and play. It actually is, but apparently not in all scenarios.

So I have a very complex issue.

Since Saturday, the network in my House has been really bad, close to non existent. Like switching between 60kb, no Internet, and 500kb at night. I contacted CC via Twitter and they be like " fixing it and shiii" but nothing.

I take the device to my office and it's blazing at max speed. Wtf, I'm thinking the network in my House ( location ) is the issue. Back home, I do all kinds of settings, and tweaks ( been using Airtel router since 2024, so I know my way around the technical side of it ). Band locks, cell locks, APN, and Network mode change. Nothing works.

I sub my alternate Airtel number, put in the router and behold its blazing well. What the heck is going on?? So the network is my location is not the problem, but my ODU simc card is acting up even though same sim card is working fine in my office.

I call CC and asked to speak to a supervisor, explained everything and was told to restart the ODU after an hour, if problem persists, I should take it to Airtel office and have an installer come and check my ODU position ( I'm skeptical about this advice because my Alternate sim works just fine in same position leading me to believe the supervisor is clutching at straws here).

2 hours later, problem persists. At this point I really don't know what to think or do anymore.

Just venting, maybe someone has/had same issue and probably got it fixed.

The problem is never about devices(their devices are actually good) nor network as i here a lot of u like to say, "make sure airtel network is good in ur area', airtel network is actually good in over 70% of locations across this country. The problem is, they have no intention of giving people the unlimited data they advertised, therefore they just throttle down those using the plan at random or collectively, if u doubt me, just purchase any other normal airtel plan on the same sim or device and watch how usable ur data becomes.

You didn't take into consideration that he tried at work place, the same ODU sim, and it worked over there. How do you explain that?

We have deduced that it's not actually unlimited but capped at 1TB, which, if it works well until that time, is fair. But there are inexplicable issues with the plan including but not limited to what he's experiencing.

Your ODU sim is not active. It was, but not anymore. You need to fix it yet with Airtel, which you have started. If you put the Sim in X25, it will still not work. I have seen that type of problem before.

The sim is active. It connects to 3g but no speed. 23kb at the max.

This issue is complicated and higher than mine. But you are better because you can use it in the office. My device is only on 3g if you like climb their mast.

Your Sim is suffering from one of the other problems I mentioned

To rule out your ODU being the problem, you should actually try to use the sim in another compatible device.

Omo sorry man. This can be frustrating. Airtel's inconsistency is so terrible.

Now there is 3 months plan, no information on FUP. Make I stick with monthly abeg.

I think so too. In fact, I advised him to take it to their office, which he did. Apparently they admitted the problem and promised to fix it as usual. I'm sure it's not fixed yet.

Let me tell you that the 4G in Abuja like Maitama, Garki, Wuze is different from the 4G in Nyanya, Karu, and Mararaba if you know Abuja very well.

UPDATE: My issue was fixed yesterday. Turns out talking to a supervisor is always the Best go-to option.

You're lucky. They should fix all Sims and be done with the BS. If they are not ready, they should tell us.

ZTE users there’s a firmware update rn. I renewed my subscription few minutes ago, logged in to the ODU to see the band giving me 35mbps and I was hit with a firmware update. Max I got was 27mbps before the update
