And he backed buhari in 2015, plus his people were a big part of buhari's government

Plus, if he had removed subsides on electricity as well, and also tried to control illegal mining, and improved tax to gdp from the word go, and also used his influence with buhari to bring about some changes, maybe maybe.
Many people backed Buhari in 2015. The buck stops on Buhari's table.

Was Jonathan responsible for fuel price when we had PDP's widespread prosperity with less debt burden and cheap petrol for better life of everyone?

How much do you estimate we are being forced to pay as subsidy to APC balablu leaders, due to massive corruption in their oil sector, for the past 11 years that petrol has been above N70 huh
PDP's widespread prosperity, that's enough answer.

If I am told I would see tickets sold over 400k in my life time for domestic flights I will beat the person

But is was possible, powered by the self acclaimed lagos builder who forgot Lagos was the capital of Nigeria with all the privileges and deceived his dumb supporters that he built Lagos

I hope these damages can be reclaimed after he is booted out

Is Tinubu responsible for aviation fuel price? i know you need to blame Tinubu for how your life is, no problem. Even your last term result na Tinubu. Somehow the government must be brought into the conversation, except saint Otti of course.
Aviation fuel (Jet A1) prices in Nigeria are primarily determined by independent marketers, the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPC), and international market forces, rather than a fixed government price. Prices are influenced by high import costs, forex volatility, and logistics challenges.
Government policies and pronouncements result in the outcome of any economy anywhere in the world. That is why they are voted in and voted out. The economic decisions they take affect every citizen within their domains for good or bad. That is governance 101.

I am cocksure if the economy improves, wages and earnings rise and inflation and prices fall your position about government will change.

This isn't about policies and pronouncements, but about aviation fuel price increase globally.

You'd think it's only in Nigeria that planes fly or avaition fuel prices changed.
It isn't only in Nigeria that airlines are charging absurd fares.

Nor is it only Nigeria that airlines are under extreme duress. The main reason why airlines in the States and Europe survive is due to government subsidy (or bailouts), without it most of them would have died a long time ago.

Enough answer from Tinubu's finance minister who was previously his finance commissioner as Lagos governor huh

thisweekng:
The Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy Chief Olawale Edun has said the last time Nigeria’s economy looked stable was about a decade ago.

He made this statement during his maiden press conference as Minister of Finance where he outlined President Bola Tinubu’s vision, agenda and strategy for the economy.

He said, “I think as we all know, we are not where we should be. The economy is barely growing above the rate of population growth.

“But it was not always so, and I think in trying to look at the way forward, if we now have a situation of slow growth, double-digit inflation, weak/depreciating exchange rate, as well as security concerns that are resulting in an economy that is not growing and not taking Nigerians out of poverty.

“If we think back to the last time when the economy was stable- when it was growing, when inflation was low, and the interest rate was affordable, that period was about a decade ago. Growth was about 6% in 2013 and 2014.”
Private sector to drive the economy

Okay, there you go.
Subsidies, the dirty word of our present times.
You said to keep these companies afloat and I will add....during pandemics, during economic super shocks, during natural disasters of all kinds.

Then when the headwinds have died down and normalcy returns government comes with the bill in form of tax hikes and surcharges. That is the way to do the do.

When is Africa, Nigeria going to think this way. That the economy is all about PEOPLE, not stats and graphs and even indices but people. So you do what is needful at all times to ensure jobs are secure, businesses are secure and investments are secure because they are very, very, very hard to get back when they are lost.

But these countries have been opening the taps of their strategic reserves to contain the shock for a while.

We here that have the crude nko, even the strategic reserves that God has placed in the ground under our feet we have sold in advance and given the money to shady contractors to build white elephants, voodoo vendors to supply snake oil and consulting conjurers to hypnotize and swindle the people with all manner of schemes.

By the way how is the CNG magic these vendors and fly by night consultants been peddling since 2023. Why hasn't it moved the needle of transport cost down one millimeter.
Re: Airlines On The Brink Of Bankruptcy As Aviation Fuel Price Soar by goody234: 1:42pm On Mar 27

Negotiate loan offtake from Dangote ...and raise prices gradually, reduce workforce or consolidate...and manage number of trips.

Yeah, the simple thing to do would be to pay subsidy. The problem is, government has not budgeted for subsidy, and dem dey still pay debt...so any attempt to pay for subsidy would mean that government would take money from education, health and so forth...to subsidsie JET A1 fuel...so that we can fly cheaply.

And the result would be more debt, on top of what we have now.

(At least it might not be as bad as doing subsidy for petrol).

All I know is subsidy should have gone since 2012, when it was clearly obvious. (GEJ could see subsidy costs rising with rising oil prices, that's why he wanted to remvoe subsidy)....even since 1993, because by now, we might have had more refineries

And again, if that man Buhari and his sidekick our president tinubu had diversifed the economy, by now we might have had some cash to spare for some limited subsides for at least the poorest of the poor.
^^^
undecided

This subsidy tale is sounding like one of my broken, warped vinyl records. You keep repeating it. We all know it by heart now.

The issue now is - what do you propose to be done to the aviation sector?

Subsidize airlines (which would go against the rules of a deregulated sector)...or let those airlines who cannot compete go into the wilderness to die?

You have to say something useful now. Stories about protests in Ojota in 2012 will not do anything for us now. What would you do if you were the decision maker today?
