Operatives of the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) of the Anambra State Police Command have uncovered a case of murder in Amichi, Nnewi South Local Government Area of the state, leading to the arrest a 35-year-old suspect, Chukwudalu Ezeani.

The suspect was nabbed over the alleged killing of his 52-year-old cousin, Chinedu Ezeani, eight months after he was declared missing.

According to a statement issued over the week by the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, the incident, which initially appeared as a case of disappearance, was reported at the Amichi Police Station in August 2025, following the sudden absence of the victim. He, however, said the matter took a dramatic turn after detectives revisited the case based on credible intelligence.

The PPRO said preliminary investigations revealed that the suspect allegedly killed the cousin on August 1, 2025, at about 8:00 p.m. at his residence in Afube Village, Amichi, buried him in a shallow grave within his compound in an attempt to conceal the crime. He was also alleged to have joined in searching for the victim as a missing person; and successfully concealed the act for about eight months.

However, the Police Spokesman, said that the breakthrough came after detectives revisited the case based on credible intelligence which led to the arrest and interrogation of the suspect who eventually confessed to killing the victim. The suspect also led police operatives to the place where he buried the victim in a shallow grave within his compound, and from where the cørpse was exhumed in the course of the investigation.

According to the PPRO, the exhumed cørpse have been deposited for necessary forensic examination, while the suspect is currently under custody and would be arraigned in court upon the conclusion of ongoing investigations.

Reaffirming its commitment to justice, the Anambra State Police Command urged members of the public to remain vigilant and report suspicious activities promptly, noting that timely information remains crucial in combating crime and ensuring the safety of lives and property across the state.

For does slowpoke quoting me, this is the reason the whites call us all sort of dirty name, is not everybody that will read the context, some people will only read the headline, i simply mean, the headline supposed to carry the culprit name while the state should be in the context not as headline because this state has millions of Men inside, perhaps im not from Anambra or Igbos grin

He wouldn't be the first to kill and search, or kill and appeal to the public or kill and cry.

His accomplice probably gave him away. That's the only credible intelligence to be had.

U see why I refuse to rent houses that are located inside villages with compounds like this with no fence.
Look at how he park his car in the open.
Agent will tell you this area they do not steal
You can park your car safely blah blah blah
Those agents na demons. Dem too dey lie lie lie.

That is the same issue I have with apartment in village area

You can be easily ambushed and killed.
And buried without anybody knowing.

An agent was trying to sell me this type of houses as rent.
The area is a village close to town with compounds that don't have fence and very quiet area.

My spirit told be to reject the house because they saw me as a rich guy and God knows if they have planned to ambush and steal or kill me in that village.

Always rent apartment inside town
Where it is busy and not quiet
So if anything happens there will be eye witness.

If you rent house for village. Dem fit kpai you bury you inside the compound. Nobody go know
