princeade86:It started from IBB with the SAP policy that greatly devalued the naira. Subsequently further devalued by successive governments. Emefiele made it worse by creating an extremely devalued naira in black market and he was selling the little dollars remaining to his friends at a far better rate. Thereby causing round tripping and complete rape of naira. This government is repairing all decades of destruction of naira. This is why you are feeling the initial effects. I hope you have been educated. |

Most largely due to naira depreciation. in dollar terms, we have less debt. Nigeria earns a lot of crude oil proceeds in USD , and we must ramp up crude oil production higher to at least 2 million barrels per day, while it continues its crude oil diversification drive. Many of our debts are in USD, and if you convert to naira, it increases with depreciation in Naira. If Nigeria does not pay any debt and simply achieve a 500naira /usd , we will owe about half of the current amount. Our debt, is not largely the problem at the moment, our income is where the most issue lies and we must increase it at a faster rate,at least times 5 in less than 4 years. In actual fact, we will/must borrow more for productive infrastructures. Only non productive countries should be scared of debt. Lagos state for example is not scared of debt, and they are the most indebted state in Nigeria, but they can relatively service the debt in an easier fashion than most others because of the income drive and get things done. USA is the most indebted country in the world, but the largest economy in the world as well. |

Wispower:So in your very smart sense, Oil subsidy should be kept and Naira subsidised for a "sound export status" ? cho cho cho, no understanding. The system was bound to collapse, reason why they were printing naira enmasse in emfiele CBN to hide the rot. |

This is what some say about hate blinding some Nigerians. Someone asked if the debt is being paid in naira or dollars. This is after someone has converted the naira debt under Buhari and Tinubu showing clearly that the debt is smaller under Tinubu. But you raised a point about how much was dollar under Buhari and under Tinubu. How did round-tripping under Buhari benefit the average man looking to buy dollars? Do you realize how Buhari and Emefiele pampered privileged insiders subsidizing the dollar, how much did you make? Tinubu is lucky they did not kill him for taking their privileges away. Wispower: |

philiancoop:The news reporters. are mischievous, they should do the report in dollars ... So for example, use the dollar to naira ratio of 150naira/1$ Buhari era to a Tinubu era and you will see that let's $1M x 150= 150 million Naira compared to let's say 1500/1$ , nowadays will make it 1500x 1M which is 1.5 billion. Clearly in naira, the figure is much bigger in Tinubus time than Buhari era but the Dollar borrowed is lower now, |

Interesting. Your so called "uneducated man" like the previous ones before him borrowed to keep the forex rate at the level it was with a lot of arbitrage happening in between. But this one (BAT) has removed the arbitrage by allowing the naira to find its true value an by implication forex subsidy like fuelsubsidy was eliminated. I hope this helps. Wispower: |

TruthHurts1:So,you are this gullible? Ask the poster to state the dollar equivalent of the alleged debt? With the old forex regime,he calculated fPMB's debt using $1 to about N460, for Tinubu he used $1 to about ₦2000 just to magnify the figure. The guy is just being mischievous |

dalass:Okay. In the same way, Buhari used money to stabilize the naira. Tinubu refused to use money to stabilize the naira. Yet, he's still borrowing. Shouldn't he be not borrowing now that he's not supporting naira, not paying subsidy, has increased duties, has increased tax collection. And hasn't shown better live results on the lives of the people |
