This is the one I have abi this nor be induction cooker? I use it with any pot and the big side is pulling 1.7kw while the small side is pulling 1.1kw and wen it get hot it turns off automatically and comes up after some few seconds continually like dat, though it is very fast wen am using it for cooking, bassdow:

osayuwamwen:this is regular hotPlate or electric cooker. The ability to go On (when cooler) and OFF (when hotter) is controlled by the thermosat in the knob you use in setting it. If you don't want it going ON & OFF, na to just byPass it with wire and e go just dey red HOT dey go. BUT induction cooker operates differently and costs more also. Very prePaid meter and Solar friendly |

osayuwamwen:Why not go for an infrared cooker like Fred, it has a maximum power of 2200w but can be reduced to as low as 100w and at 800w-1000w the burner turns red. It’s quite fast, energy efficient, has timer, works with any pot and comes with grill stand for grilling or roasting corn. It’s what I’m using as I we have stopped using gas since last year.

osayuwamwen:This is a regular hot plate and the power consumption can’t be regulated. Just go for an infrared cooker because the induction is not too good for one’s health due to it’s working mechanism. |

justasitis:Please sir, kindly explain more on how induction cooker in not too good for one's health but you are recommending infrared cooker. |
| Re: Solar Energy, A Complement To FTA by iraybuju: 9:28pm On Mar 27 |
justasitis:Infrared cooker this one na this same thing as hot plate na. I had it before na two seconds I take sell am quick quick. I have induction cooker but the minimum it draws is about 1000w I will really love that guys own that draws 800 and as low as 200w steady draw |
| Re: Solar Energy, A Complement To FTA by sofdoc1: 10:24pm On Mar 27 |
iraybuju:Infrared is not the same as the regular hotplate o, the regular hotplate consumes a lot of power and can't be controlled. You can select the output power coming from the infrared which makes it much better. If you kept yours a while longer, you might have seen it's advantages. |
| Re: Solar Energy, A Complement To FTA by justasitis: 10:29pm On Mar 27 |
ClassicMan202:An induction cooker works by using an electromagnetic field to generate heat directly within magnetic cookware, rather than heating a surface element. An alternating current passes through a copper coil, creating a magnetic field that induces eddy currents inside the pot, creating rapid heat via electrical resistance. When magnetic cookware (iron/stainless steel) is placed on top, the magnetic field induces eddy currents, which are small swirling electrical currents within the metal pan itself. The pan’s resistance to these eddy currents converts the electrical energy into intense, fast heat directly in the pot. Summarily, the magnetically induced heating is generated inside the steel pot and it’s directed on the food. So, the foods will eventually absorb some of the magnetic radiation during cooking. Whereas the infrared cooker works like the regular hot plates making use of heating elements but the power can be regulated and it’s quite faster with different setting modes and timer. |

sofdoc1:It was hot plate the man had not an infrared cooker because the infrared cooking technology which does not require a magnetic pot to work came after the induction cooker. So, it is an improvement over the induction cooker which is gradually being phased out. |

Gshems:I heard they are for buying in installments. Can I pay instantly and get the panels from them immediately? |
| Re: Solar Energy, A Complement To FTA by adibo(m): 11:56pm On Mar 27 |
bassdow:Yes, that's true. I was lucky that all my pots and kettles worked with it, so I did not have to buy new pots |

| Re: Solar Energy, A Complement To FTA by adibo(m): 11:57pm On Mar 27 |
osayuwamwen:Yes, it does. We only use it at 800w and that has been quite OK for me. That is a subjective opinion anyway, another person may have a different opinion |
| Re: Solar Energy, A Complement To FTA by adibo(m): 12:05am On Mar 28*. Modified: 12:29am On Mar 28 |
osayuwamwen:This is it set at 800w. The way it is made, if there is no compatible pot on it, even if you put it on, the cooker won't come on. That is also a good safety feature I guess, incase one mistakenly puts it on without knowing. So, I can't snap the surface when it is working, although it does not even show any red colour, it just starts working

osayuwamwen:I suspect this may be an infrared cooker, through, I may be wrong. They are similar but the induction cooker is much more efficient than the infrared cooker and selects pot while the infrared cooker does not select pot |

favouredbymercy:I just checked it now, disturbing everyone sleeping in the house lol. These are my findings; Before I put on the induction cooker . My load was about 98 - 100w cus it was already midnight, so, everything was off apart from fans and a bulb. When I set it to 300w, my inverter showed 534w, which we can say the induction cooker is consuming about 400w plus When I set it at 800w, the inverter showed 999w, which we can say the induction cooker is using around 899w thereabouts

| Re: Solar Energy, A Complement To FTA by justasitis: 7:35am On Mar 28 |
adibo:The power consumption is exactly like my infrared cooker but the induction cooker may be faster since the heating occurs inside the pot rather than from outside. The draw back is that the pot must have a magnetic base/bottom for the induction cooker to work and the health implications of cooking with a magnetic pot is another concern for me. I was using the normal hot plate attached to a gas cooker before, it can also be regulated but it was not as fast as the infrared cooker which also comes with added features like timer and BBQ Grill. |

Please friends, I need your honest advice 🙏 I am trying to decide between two power options for my home. Option 1: Buying an EcoFlow Delta 2 Max (around ₦1.2 million) and adding 2 pieces of 550W solar panels (about ₦500,000), making everything roughly ₦1.7 million total. Option 2: Using the same money to install a traditional solar inverter system instead. My appliances are not heavy — I only use: 3 fans a television phones laptops power banks for charging and lights Which option do you honestly think is better and more practical for me long-term? I would really appreciate your advice . Thank you very much 🙏 |

A traditional setup will give you more battery capacity than the 2kWh found in the Delta 2 Max. The only advantage the Delta 2 max has is Portability. For your needs, you will get a better setup, with better capacity lesser than your budget. Youngzero2: |

osayuwamwen:Since his external charge controller is just 60amps meaning max of 700watts pv is allowed, can the charge controller still handle the 2*715watts on a 12v system without frying out? |
| Re: Solar Energy, A Complement To FTA by osayuwamwen(m): 9:26am On Mar 28 |
am using my inverter for hot plate as early as this morning 9am am already generating 1.4kw while the hot plate is pulling 1.5kw

I have little knowledge abt panel sizing, just snap yr controller spec here so that those who have the knowledge will help u out adimx: |
| Re: Solar Energy, A Complement To FTA by adibo(m): 10:26am On Mar 28 |
osayuwamwen:My wife set the induction cooker at 300w this morning to boil water. As can be seen, it has been on for just 4 minutes and the kettle is already a bit hot to the touch, which means even the 300w is usable if needed, although that's not my typical choice. The inverter is showing 708w, that's with fridge of about 130w on, fridge of about 100w plus on, several bulbs and two fans on as well. So, the induction cooker is probably consuming about 300+ watts and the water has boiled now sef in about 8 minutes with the 300w
