Heffalump:^^^ Unfortunately, the rules for players are different from the rules for referees. If a referee makes bad decisions during a game, the team that has been wronged may lodge an appeal...but more often than not, that will not change the match results. There may be some internal investigation and some vague 'disciplinary' action may be taken, but that's about it. For players on the other hand, the rules are different. If a player elbows an opponent and the offence isn't caught by officials until after the game, he will still be suspended and fined. If the number of players engaged in 'misconduct' is large enough, then the match results can be changed (as we have seen in this Morocco vs Senegal case). If an entire squad walks off during a match, there will be consequences after the match (as Senegal has found out). This whole mess certainly isn't a good look for football and even the Moroccans have said they don't want any boardroom victory. But the governing bodies want to discourage walkouts in future so they will send a strong message. Let's wait for the arbitration guys to rule...although I suspect they will uphold the ruling...or order a re-match (possible, but highly unlikely). |

Druss:^^^ You do have a point. That delay has proved very, very costly. |

Lifestone:Football elicits a lot of emotions from fans. Even here in Nigeria Chelsea & Arsenal fans who don't have any direct stake in the clubs fight & injure themselves over mere arguments. The Coach deserved to be sanctioned, nothing more. He remains a hero in Senegal, & rightly so. |

Fiscus105:^^^ You do have a point. The decision should have been made there and then. The delay has now proved very costly and there are no winners as things stand. Senegal is defiantly holding on and if they are stripped off the cup, they will always be seen as having been cheated by CAF. Morocco on its part, doesn't want any part of a tainted boardroom victory - as some of their key players have said publicly. Its a pity. |

Lifestone:Why is an entire Country thrown into wild jubilations when a Trophy is won? Even when 1kobo may not enter your pocket? Is there anything rational about that? Football would be dead without emotions; you can't seperate the two. |

I'm not in support of CAF o, but the truth is Senegal must return the trophy whether they like it or not before the next Afcon. And if by then CAS hasn't done with their investigation. I want to see how CAF will give them the replica which is the normal procedure |

If CAF decides to sanction Senegal, they should just pull out and look for other African countries to join and form a parallel FA. Many will be willing to join, enough of this north African countries pushing CAF up and down like wheelbarrow. If not for the uproar, Morocco would have gladly accepted it. |

Princedapace:You speak out of ignorance. Let me help you. The punishment for a WALK-OUT is loss of the match +Sanctions, but the Referee must 1st declare a WALK-OUT. It's a Referee's on-field decision & there are conditions for it. Sadio Mane stayed back urging his players to return, so the Referee obviously decided that their PROTEST did not get to the point to declare a WALK-OUT. |

GanagiBitrus:Go and read the article law that the board referenced. There must be purnishment for this else, every country will be doing same. Football normally is full of human errors. There have been countless of them in EPL, champions league, World cup. Players should never disgrace the competition with such protest else every other country will try same. That was why the punishement was melted at them. |
| Re: Defiant Senegal Display Afcon Trophy Before Beating Peru In Friendly by GanagiBitrus: 3:51pm On Mar 29 |
Princedapace:There is punishment for a WALK-OUT - Loss of match (+Sanctions), but the Referee MUST FIRST DECLARE A WALK-OUT, before such punishment is effected. It is purely a Referee's on-field decision, ¬ one to be decided in a boardroom, after the match. |

That is how it is supposed to be , Senegal are the rightful winners and owners of that trophy regardless of what the CAF clowns 🤡 do, actually it is becoming comedic like the kind of things you see in Amakom Tv YouTube 🤡🤩😂 |

Lifestone:Which kind impact on diplomacy and sportsmanship are you talking about? The man did the right thing at that moment and that action was what helped them win the cup. The coach supposed to be given a National Honour for his bravery in the face of organized oppression. So I don't know what you are talking about. |
| Re: Defiant Senegal Display Afcon Trophy Before Beating Peru In Friendly by Pacesetter123(m): 8:52am On Mar 30 |
Lifestone:The Senegalese actually exhibited sportsmanship by following the rules of the game by playing the match to the end. Is 120 minutes football action on the pitch a joke to you? Do you have a different personal rules for them to follow other than the ones CAF, through her referee implemented in that final match? |
| Re: Defiant Senegal Display Afcon Trophy Before Beating Peru In Friendly by Pacesetter123(m): 9:01am On Mar 30 |
Mrexcell:No,it is rather very necessary. They have already said when CAS gives its verdict ordering them to return the cup that they will obey. So, for the mean time, the cup is theirs and they have every right to enjoy it while it last. After all, they suffered for it for full 120 minutes in the pitch. |
| Re: Defiant Senegal Display Afcon Trophy Before Beating Peru In Friendly by Pacesetter123(m): 9:12am On Mar 30 |
Lifestone:So you know the rules more than the CAF president that was there that day sanctioning the decision of the referee not awarding the cup to Morocco on the ground of technicality? Or you know football rules more than the FIFA president that was there that day that also helped in the presentation of the medals to the Senegalese national team as the authentic winner of the tournament based on referee's decision? |
