PRESS STATEMENT
29-03-2026

RESIGNATION FROM THE NEW NIGERIA PEOPLE’S PARTY (NNPP)

I wish to formally announce my resignation from the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP) with immediate effect.

I seize this opportunity to express my profound gratitude for the honour and privilege of serving as the Party’s National Leader and its Presidential Candidate in the 2023 General Elections. As a committed and bonafide member of the party, this was not an easy decision to make.

However, considering the current trajectory of the nation’s political landscape, which calls for strategic realignment, I have found it necessary to identify with another political platform that offers the best opportunity to effectively change the nation.

I extend my deepest appreciation to the National Chairman, Ajuji Ahmed and the entire National Working Committee for their steadfast support throughout my time. I also thank the Board of Trustees, the National Executive Committee, and all levels of leadership across the party — from the ward to the state level, as well as the legacy members of the party and all followers of the Kwankwasiyya Movement for their dedication and commitment to our shared mission.

We shall continue to collaborate and work together towards charting a better and more prosperous future for our dear nation.

Signed,
Sen. Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, PhD, FNSE
Former Kano State Governor,
2023 Presidential Candidate,
New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP

No body saw this coming.

Nigerian politicians are all the same.

I only pity the gullible masses who keep defending them on empty stomachs and pockets.

Well,it's very obvious he's on his way to the ADC and it's very obvious the northerners are cooking something for Tinubu.

Big move for ADC no doubt. What remains to be seen is if it is enough to win Kano if Kwakwanso is not the presidential candidate. For the governorship election, Abba Yusuf will still win easily.
Re: Kwankwaso Resigns From NNPP by Odin13: 2:36pm On Mar 29
Northern Nigeria is aligning for Atiku Abubakar and everyone is seeing it.. but less the understand ..
Just as they came together for buhari ..

If tinubu can be president.. why not Atiku?
The corruption story the south west has used to lamba everyone .. won’t sell again

Obidients must align to this reality and remember the end game is to take APC out of Nigeria .. and not ego call.

Which fake news channel is the whistler again? He had told you guys several times that he had no business in ADC and the APC. Kwakwanso is one of the politicians i respect so much in Nigeria and I told him this once, at the Abuja airport. We boarded same flight from lagos. He was so happy when I told him so.

He's never power-drunk but only after the welfare of the people. He's a key political figure in the north who is so much respected. I remember when apc supporters were drooling over his rumoured defection to the apc here on NL and being tipped for the VP slot. I wish they knew this man truly.
Fingers crossed 🙌

This is the new reality, my brother.

Tinubu should campaign on what he has actually done, jobs created, lives protected, power and electricity provided, standard of living improved, and quality of life enhanced. Not propaganda.

And let no moderfker tell us it’s the turn of the South.

“It’s the turn of the South” applies only within the APC; it is not binding on the ADC. Just like in 2015, when the APC gave its ticket to Muhammadu Buhari while Goodluck Jonathan was seeking reelection.

And on this ADC mandate...We stand gidigba.

People easily forget that kwankwaso pulls a significant appeal mainly in Kano alone....I am not saying his defection won't bother d ruling party but u see....if u want to win dis election, u have to win states like Lagos, Rivers, Kano and maybe either of Anambra/Enugu....I understand ADC having Kwankwaso is a big gain but they need to do more especially in d northern states
Re: Kwankwaso Resigns From NNPP by unclejb2(m): 3:04pm On Mar 29
Obi/Kwankwaso ticket is 80% loading.

The biggest weights in northern politics are all in ADC.

Tinubu's nightmare
