The Chairman of the Governing Board of the Federal Mortgage Bank of Nigeria, FMBN, Nasiru Gawuna, has resigned from his position.Nigeria travel guide

DAILY NIGERIAN reports that Mr Gawuna has perfected his defection deal with a former governor of Kano, Rabiu Kwankwaso, and is expected to defect to ADC on Tuesday.

In a resignation letter dated March 27, 2026, the former APC governorship candidate said his decision takes immediate effect and aligns with the President’s instruction aimed at ensuring adherence to electoral laws ahead of forthcoming political activities.

He expressed profound gratitude to President Bola Tinubu for the opportunity to serve, describing his tenure as a privilege to contribute to the growth and development of the Federal Mortgage Bank of Nigeria and the country at large.Nigeria travel guide

“My resignation is in strict compliance with the President’s directive requiring all political appointees to step down in accordance with the provisions of the Electoral Act,” the letter read.

Mr Gawuna also stated that he is placing his future “in the hands of Allah (SWT),” while seeking divine guidance on his next course of action.

He further assured of his commitment to a smooth transition process, noting that he would hand over all responsibilities in accordance with established procedures and directives.

Hopefully he doesn’t lose the election next year cuz that might be the end to his political journey sadly. If ABBA Kabir wins next year, APC would have lined others up to succeed him and Gawuna would be lost then.

He earns huge in this position but see what greed has led him to.

Kwankwaso is looking in the direction of Nasiru Gawuna, the candidate of the APC in 2023, who was defeated by his anointed candidate and current governor under the NNPP.

But life isn't like that sometimes... as you never know what number the next dice cast can bring. It's better to try, than accepting a limit set by a fellow man.

History shows Kano state is not run like that. No single party has been able to govern Kano beyond 8 years straight.

And all that have governed Kano since 1999 has had the support of Rabiu Kwankwaso or Buhari at some point or the other.

In 2023, the Kano State APC gubernatorial candidate secured 896,705 votes, losing to Abba Kabir Yusuf of the Kwankwasiya, who scored 1,019,602 votes.

Immediately after the election and subsequent court cases, Tinubu not APC or Ganduje, abandoned him and treated him as a liability.

Today, Gawuna is in active consultations to join Kwankwaso, while APC not Tinubu, keeps trying to reach him.

He has even put his number on DND.
