Lol. Wait for nairalanda to come and give you the historical antecedents of egg prices and why it is this way. Anything that questions the govt he will come and give reasons why it should be this way since 1960.

Just wait he is coming.

Just few years ago (LESS THAN FIVE YEARS), a crate was not even up to ₦1,000.

Does this means that Nigerians will soon be buying one egg for up to ₦500 at restaurants?

Egg is supposed to be the cheapest and the most affordable food and source of protein. In fact in many parts of the world, egg is subsidised and cheaper than water.

What kind of government is this?
No light
No food
Waiting for all those senseless and defenders of evil and GREEDY PEOPLE to also blame it on the war in the middle East.
how much was dollar then

On your mind you don't know that the world economy is connected?

That's terrible and here I am happy I was able to purchase at least 10 dozens of eggs for approximately 75 cents per dozen since February of this year. 😩😩😩

I just had to throw this on here to help Nigerians see how much they have shortchanged themselves by the many lies they have chosen to adopt for themselves. 🥱🥱

And 6000 is too much for a poor country bro. This is why I said, if u are earning 30m per year in Nigeria, u are struggling as long as u have family.
Most of the bills of those around u will be upon u. U cant watch them die. I spend between 30k to 40k on eggs per month.
why don't you set up a poultry for the unemployed in your family

I think it might be for 2 reasons, festive period such as Ramadan and Easter and the 2nd might be in other for the govt to accept the $900m Chinese Poultry investment Scheme on Mr Presidents table .
President Tinubu should pls reject Chinas offer because they China would gain more while our economy , poultry farmers like myself will lose more, and may then our economy will rely on China massively in the future for our poultry eggs and meat, then China would grow from Poultry to other areas of our Agric sector .
Let a nation and it's citizens farm and produce what it eats. We are what we eat , if you eat GMO or mostly fertilizer agric products you may develop Cancer and other ailments.
We have arable lands and labour force to produce our own foods , so why begging a foreigner to do that when you know they are more financially and technically exposed meaning they will kill and discourage our local farmers and home based investors.
What we need is tools , modern farm equipments , soft loans etc that will grow and modernize our Agric sectors
why didn't you poultry farmers increase supply
You had 60yrs to do it
If you cannot you cannot do it in 60 years you cannot do it

Better let China come since you failed

If you read the article you won't miss

Retailers now sell between N6,000 and N6,500 depending on egg size, while supermarkets and large grocery stores price crates between N7,000 and N8,500, reflecting rising distribution and operating costs, News Agency of Nigeria reported.

Tinubu sets 3-year economic revival, 50million jobs target

August 29, 2023

President Bola Tinubu who reiterated his commitment to economic revatalisation said he will not permit indolence or any act capable of derailing his ‘Renewed Hope Agenda’ by any of his ministers.

He gave a marching order to the 45-member of the Federal Executive Council (FEC) to perform or be ready to be fired for incompetence.
@
@
Edun said the Tinubu administration inherited a bad economy with an *unacceptable high rate of unemployment, and with inflation standing at 24%.*

He said:“Per capital has fallen steadily, inflation is at 24 percent, unemployment is high, you know m are rebasing the way in which it’s calculated. Either way, it is high and youth unemployment is even unacceptably high, these are the key metrics that we have met.”
@
@
Edun said: “Clearly, *the Federal Government is not in a position to borrow at this time*. Rather, the emphasis has to be on creating a stable, macroeconomic environment. Stable inflation, stable exchange rate, an environment within which people can come and invest and thereby increase production and further grow the economy; Improve and create jobs and reduce poverty.
@
@
Anite said President Tinubu was planning to create 50 million jobs.

She stressed: “In Mr. President’s manifesto during his campaigns, he promised 50 million jobs and that’s our target. We will take it in phases; we are looking at different sectors of the economy that will contribute to this job creation chief among them is the creative industry and the digital economy, and then the agric sector, agro-processing zones, and mining, oil and gas. So we’re very confident that we will achieve this.”

Do you know what city boy’s finance minister is clueless about huh

If JagaBandeet is not stealing money and spending it recklessly then why is he borrowing more than PDP presidents who gave us cheap petrol and better life with less corruption and less insecurity?

thisweekng:
The Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy Chief Olawale Edun has said the last time Nigeria’s economy looked stable was about a decade ago.

He made this statement during his maiden press conference as Minister of Finance where he outlined President Bola Tinubu’s vision, agenda and strategy for the economy.

He said, “I think as we all know, we are not where we should be. The economy is barely growing above the rate of population growth.

“But it was not always so, and I think in trying to look at the way forward, if we now have a situation of slow growth, double-digit inflation, weak/depreciating exchange rate, as well as security concerns that are resulting in an economy that is not growing and not taking Nigerians out of poverty.

“If we think back to the last time when the economy was stable- when it was growing, when inflation was low, and the interest rate was affordable, that period was about a decade ago. Growth was about 6% in 2013 and 2014.”
