Ex-Kano Deputy Governor Nasir Gawuna Visits Senator Rabiu Kwankwaso At his Residence

Former Deputy Governor of Kano State, Nasiru Yusuf Gawuna, paid a visit to former Kano State Governor, Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, at his residence in Kano.

According to a media post by Senator Kwankwaso on Monday, March 30, 2026, he expressed pleasure in receiving Gawuna, describing the visit as a significant engagement between key political figures in the state.

Kwankwaso stated, “Pleased to receive His Excellency Nasiru Yusuf Gawuna, former Deputy Governor of Kano State, at my residence in Kano,” while also expressing optimism about future developments, adding that he looks forward to what lies ahead.

The meeting has attracted attention among political observers, given the roles both leaders have played in Kano’s political landscape.

However, such engagements may signal ongoing consultations and possible realignments within the state’s political space.

The visit underscores continued interactions among influential stakeholders, as discussions around political collaboration and future strategies gradually shape the evolving dynamics of Kano State politics.

The entire Northerners are really cooking "Tuwo Chinkafa" for Amoda Ogunlere but the "jonzing man" hasn't realised it yet.

He is banking his hope on snatching and running with it and sharing of expired rice .

Mr Nasir Gawuna ...with over 800k votes .. aligning with elections veteran like Kwankwoso in Kano is a plus.

Should this addition naturally translate into increase huge figures...the answer is No.

The reasons sre simple...The only force here is still Kwankwoso and not Gawuna.
This is because, Gawuna reportedly only managed to win his ward in an elections he was on the ballot...he lost 11 wards and lost his LGA in the last elections. NNPP candidate backed by this same Kwankwoso won in 11 wards and this LGA.

So, I believe it is Kwankwoso's figures he will inherit. Kwankwoso needs him as a candidate to run Kano gubernatorial..and that's all.

My own permutations...if there are no other defections from APC to ADC....I think Governor Kabiru has a chance.....teaming up with Ganduje and other APC's heavyweight...his own performance ratings will be decisive to know if he can defeat Kwankwoso.

For now, Gawuna is not adding any electoral figures to Kwankwoso

Don't forget that things are getting harder by the day. Lots of Nigerians are fed up with the party and Tinubu's capitalist policies ain't helping matters.

You don't know what you're saying .

It's true Rabiu Kwankwaso is a big fish in Kano politics . Gawuna too is a very big name and that's why tinubu almost had a running stomach on hearing that Gawuna is defecting to ADC . Tinubu called him many times but Gawuna ingored the calls . Tinubu sent people to go beg Gawuna and even offered him a position but Gawuna refused and still dumped APC. He will officially announce his defection to ADC in days to come.

What I'm trying to say is that Gawuna is very very popular in Kano state. He's loved by his people and he just might be the next governor of kano state in 2027 with the look of things and with how the current governor has fallen out with the kwankwasiya followers.

Dey play. Even Ganduje is silently aggrieved and will not enthusiastically support Abba Kabir. Same as Barau and other federal lawmakers in the state. Tinubu scuttled their own plans and ambitions to accept a lightweight Abba Kabir with no real structure of his own, imposing a vague and undefined 60-40 sharing formula on them. There is suspicion that Abba Kabir is still loyal to Kwankwaso as he moves around with the red cap. Kwankwaso is now FULLY in charge of Kano without making any concessions to Tinubu. The so-called master strategist is being outplayed in this game of strategy. He's blinded by greed and is clearly taking decisions out of panic.

@topic, this is old news. Gawuna already resigned from the APC yesterday and has just landed in Kano in preparation for his defection to the ADC today.

Can you explain why he lost his own LGA in the last election... winning just his own wards out of 12huh In an election he was on the ballot and backed by the incumbenthuh

Still your usual conjectures. Explain why Gawuna, if truly has the numbers you are claiming he has.. lost his LGA, winning just 1 ward out of 12 in the last elections he was on the ballot and backed by incumbent.

I totally agree with you.. that's why a sincerely united opposition force would have beaten him silly by 3pm on elections day.

Sadly, individual ambitions and indecision on who should run in an election that's is less than 1 year away is a huge factor!

Did tinubu not lose Lagos to Peter Obi?
Re: Ex-Kano Deputy Governor Nasiru Gawuna Visits Kwankwaso (Photos) by Ezewuzie01: 9:54am On Mar 31
So the demented Peter Obi can't see that everyone is visiting Kwankwaso and not him, yet his supporters want Kwankwaso to deputize him. Where does that happen? None of these politicians ever visits the demented Peter Obi but he keeps running his bent mouth that he is better than them.

Kwakwanso would be a fool for taking this guy in and giving him guber ticket against those that have stood by him through his years in the wilderness..... gawuna was among those that rubbished Kwakwanso along with ganduje.....he could be easily planted by ganduje and tinubu to get the state back with the help of sane kwakwanso that loves to hate them so much......gawuna is apc through and throu,no amount of red caps can change that.

You sabi, beta oyel dey your head Miles apart from those guys that ignore facts and keep playing emotional politics......gawuna as a guber candidate lost his nassarawa lga,he also had the state resources behind him through ganduje.....kwakwanso on the other hand got that overwhelming support majorly for the fact that he was on the ballot.the dynamics are now totally different and Kano is a place of special interest to tinubu.......the other way to look at it is ganduje could actually send gawuna over to kwakwanso so whichever way the election goes he is still a winner because Gawuna can also easily move to apc if he wins with kwakwanso but I trust kwakwanso can't be that stupid.

I don't see APC winning Kano Guber. More people will still defect to ADC because Abba Yusuf is 💯 certain to get APC ticket. This will push many old members out of APC to pursue their ambitions somewhere else

Re: Ex-Kano Deputy Governor Nasiru Gawuna Visits Kwankwaso (Photos) by Razzness(m): 11:36am On Mar 31
You are correct. But don't forget that Gawuna built what would be considered his own following base during the last election, who will invariably decamp to the ADC with him.
Moreover, Gawuna is already a battle-tested politician whose name on a ballot will carry more weight than, say, an Abdusallam Gwarzo. I believe Kwankwaso will factor this in when picking his candidate. He cannot afford to lose Kano at any cost now, even if Gawuna would not be his preferred choice due to their history; he is his strongest option.
