Italy Reportedly Blocks US Military Warplanes From Landing – Is NATO Unity Start by Nnamdipapa(op): 12:40pm On Mar 31
Something interesting just happened in Europe that is not making loud headlines yet, but it tells you how complicated global alliances really are.
Italy reportedly refused to allow some U.S. military aircraft to land at the Sigonella naval air base in Sicily. This is not just any base. It is one of America’s most important military logistics centers in Europe and has been used for decades for NATO operations.
But this time, Italy said no.

Reports say the aircraft were connected to operations related to the rising tensions in the Middle East. However, the issue was not exactly political, at least officially. The problem was that the United States allegedly did not follow the normal authorization process before planning the landing.
Basically, Italy was saying:
"Even if we are allies, you cannot just show up without clearance."
Many people do not realize this, but even though U.S. forces operate from Sigonella, the base still belongs to Italy. America can use it, but Italy still controls what happens there.
And this is where it gets interesting.
Some analysts say this may simply be Italy enforcing procedure. Others believe it could show something deeper: that some European countries are becoming more careful about how much they want to be involved in expanding global conflicts.
This may not be a fight, but it may be a signal.
What makes the story even more interesting is history. In 1985, this same Sigonella base almost caused a military confrontation between the U.S. and Italy after a hijacking incident. Both countries actually had armed personnel facing each other before diplomacy resolved the situation.

So this base has seen tension before.
Right now there is no indication of any serious diplomatic crisis. Cooperation between the U.S. and Italy continues normally. But small decisions like this sometimes show where countries are starting to quietly draw boundaries.

And in global politics, small signals sometimes come before bigger changes.
It also raises questions Nigerians may find familiar.
If even NATO allies must still ask permission, what does that say about how power really works?
Is this just normal military bureaucracy?
Or is Europe slowly becoming less comfortable automatically supporting U.S. military operations?
Nobody knows yet.
But one thing is clear. Even among friends, national interest always comes first.

I think this shows that Italy does not want a part in the US war of aggression against Iran

Even Keir Starmer and the Spanish parliament are keeping the US out and not agreeing to blindly participate in this war of aggression. Iran has never been a threat to the US and the war is totally needless

I like as they are giving USA the perfect reason not to save them in future like they did twice.

Europe will definitely regret this stance
History won't be kind to them

The Monroe doctrine Will now be fully implemented.

Nothing will consign US with anything that happens in Europe, if them like make them kpai themselves as they have been doing since the last 1000 years.

Na the upcoming religious war in Europe go even sweet pass.

This right here.

The EU needs spine surgery.

All the radical islamists bedeviling Europe worship Iran. You’ll almost never read of a citizen from the GCC causing havoc in Europe.

This is an opportunity for everybody that supports ‘peaceful’ Islam to uproot the so called axis of resistance so that a new era of mutual tolerance and respect can exist.

Just to put it out there;
Not until the charles hedbo incidence did the west begin to limit and apply extreme caution to the activities of Muslims.
Prior to today, they had equal rights like everyone else. Wearing whatever they wanted and worshipped how they wanted. But today they’re defiant to even their hosts that took in many of them as asylum seekers and refugees.
