A Nigerian national died in police custody in West Delhi’s Rajouri Garden on Sunday, police said.
According to police he was riding a scooter on the wrong side of the road towards Rajouri Garden Metro Station.

Suspecting foul play, cops attempted to stop him.

The man rammed his scooter into a police motorcycle, fell on the road, and then fled on foot. He was chased and apprehended by the team,” police said.

The man was taken to the Special Staff office near Tagore Garden. Police said he did not cooperate and complained of feeling unwell, following which he was immediately taken to Guru Gobind Singh Hospital in Khyala.

However, doctors declared him “brought dead.”

The deceased has been identified as Christian Eze Promise.
Police said intimation of the incident has been sent to the NHRC, Ministry of External Affairs, and the High Commission of Nigeria.

An individual went into another country, disregarded its laws, turned violent when confronted, and was duly apprehended, while the locals were simply obeying their traffic regulations.

So what, precisely, do you expect the Nigerian government to do, intervene so he can continue flouting the laws of India without consequence?

"Nigeria is a failed country", is the anthem. By that logic, perhaps India should also be so labelled. How else does one explain riding against traffic, then ramming into law enforcement officers when challenged, only to flee the scene?

Had such an incident occurred in Nigeria, the blatant disregard for constituted authority would likely be overlooked, while the Nigeria Police Force would be insulted down to its very foundation.
