What are you even saying? It has been confirmed to be false

We know the people inciting foreigners against Igbos
angry
I had my suspicions all along as to the source of this evil propaganda against Ndigbo! They did a similar thing in Ghana as well! They’ve taken their hatred against Ndigbo to an international setting….using fake news and propaganda to stoke hatred against us!

There is nothing like Igbo king or whatever you chose to call it. Anyone can wake up and call himself whatever he likes.
Eh yaaaah
Go to Sokoto. Stay there for 3 months and call yourself "The Sultan of Sokoto; Or relocate to Kano and call yourself "The Emir of Kano. Na your body go tell you..

Arostar2023:
Your government has debunked the rumours, but you are here still trying everything within your power to continue spreading the news.
I hope you are aware that the video of the so-called coronation is in the public space.

There's no difference between some of you and the insecure/pathologically wicked South Africans...
My dear brother, there is a huge difference. Just drop the ethnic lenses and see this thing objectively. I come in peace.😎

I will always love and respect Nigerians. I have zero respect for Africans from elsewhere who show no ability to take responsibility.

It did not surprise me to see attempts here by some Africans to use events in South Africa as justification for the disgraceful behaviour that Ghanaians showed towards Igbo Nigerians in Ghana who were simply expressing their culture.

I personally find Ghanaians the most annoying and, in some cases, quite diabolical in their behaviour. The way Igbos maintain their culture wherever they go in the world — and likewise the Yoruba and other Nigerians — the way Nigerians generally try to practise our culture wherever we go, is exactly what has helped create respect for Africa as a continent.
Yet now Ghanaian people are all over social media presenting themselves as proud Africans and trying to give the impression that they maintain African culture, whereas they were among the first Africans who used to go abroad and try to behave like proper English gentlemen, speaking the King’s English and looking down on African food and culture.

My experience growing up was very unpleasant. They would often form alliances with Caribbean groups and laugh at Nigerians for wearing Nigerian attire or holding weddings in Nigerian cultural ways. They were often the loudest voices claiming Nigerians were embarrassing Africa when Nigerians cooked Nigerian food or opened Nigerian shops selling African goods.

What the Igbo are doing in South Africa — keeping traditional ways alive — is simply an example of how Nigerians generally behave wherever we go in the world. We kept our culture alive, and in doing so we introduced Africa to the world in a confident and unapologetic way.

South Africans need to apologise to the Nigerian community in South Africa. Ghana also needs to apologise to the Nigerian community in Ghana instead of continuing this absolutely disgraceful mutual support against what they like to portray as “the terrible Nigerians.”

I didn't know this existed in Law. I thought customary matters were vested in traditional settings in alignment with the constitution of course.
The constitution recognises the rights of states through their legislative to operate chiefs and customary laws in electing and regulating traditional leadership and rites.
All states have a chiefs law that why the removal of the Emirs in Kano involved the legislature, some chiefs can be removed by a local government council for instance.
Technically kings in Nigeria are employee of the LGAs however some have multiple LGAs under their control that then vests their appointment and disciplinary authority with the state executive and legislature.

For God's Sake, what is wrong, in any tribe, having a leader who oversees their affairs in a nation, state or region outside theirs, so long they are law abiding?
All over Nigeria, the Hausa/ Fulani, have Sarkis, looking after the affairs of the people outside their state of origin, the same is applicable to the Yorubas, why should that of the Igbos, always a talking point and bone of contention?
This hatred for anything Igbo in Nigeria, has to stop.

Thank you @Seppuku for the video. It is quite enlightening, a necessary video that can be used to quell the situation.
Looking at a similar incidence which occurred in Ghana, I think our Igbo brothers will have to refine this issue of "coronation of their Igwes" in such a way that their host communities does not feel threatened. And I believe that effective communication, before and after such coronation is key. 😎

I agree. They overstepped a boundary but from the evidence I have seen so far, definitely without malice or ill intent which is why I fail to see what the rukus was about.

The little respect I had for South Africa has gone way down on the scale simply because for a so called sophisticated country the reactions were very typical of people who are not very well informed.

If you are a community leader, stay away from thrones, crowns, the words "install" or "coronate" or (varying) words to that effect.

Anything that has regal connotations, stay well away.

Also, I notice some Ndigbo, not all, are immediately pointing fingers at Ndi Yoruba, this is nothing to do with them or other Nigerians, this is to do with an inability of Ohaneze to read the room.

We helped them overcome apartheid o, we suckled them since birth ó, it is neither here nor there.

It is an abomination for two rulers to exist in a land anywhere in black Africa. Stay in your (mere) community leader lane.

I had a friend abroad once, almost every single person from a South American country in that European country went there legally through him. He provided support that their embassy couldn't. In fact, some embassy staff pointed people in his direction, especially those that wanted to settle in the region he was based in.

Even after they settled, he was still the go to person of residents of that country. He had only gone on a backpacking holiday to that country once and said he wanted to repay the kindness of the people.

I have lost touch with him now I am no longer there but this guy is the definition of an Eze or Igwe. He never did any installation or coronation, wore no crown or sat on a throne.

O domkop thata and I will explain slower what I truly meant.

I don't need to get the geographics in order. The fact is South Africa and Nigeria are too far from each other and have zero cultural similarities so there is no need to force compatibility. You are better off building unity with your West African neighbours,South Africa too will build with it's Southern African(SADC) countries as we are people that are very much alike in a lot of ways, and that has always been my stance on this South Africa/Nigeria saga.I never understood Nigeria's obsession with us,our country and our ways of life.

Where in the world do you get the notion that We want to be "compatible" with you in terms of culture. Get that supremacist and ridiculous notion out of your head boy. Most Nigerians in SA are economic migrants. They don't have time to spend bowing down to your monarchs, spending time at the shebeen ploting on when next to Toyi toyi or dining on pap and cabbage.

Like other groups of White or black migrants, they seek to exploit the white monopoly capitalist system that runs your economy, finish and Klaar.

The fear of " black foreigners" taking over and dominating you is where the crux of the matter is.

Obsessed with who? Don't make me laugh.

1. You live with AmaShaagaans, Venda peoples, Shona's, Ndebele's who are your kin and can't even get along with them.

2. You are highly discriminatory against your so called SADC neighbours, Mozambicans, Malawians,Zimbabweans in particular who because like Nigerians they retaliate against your propaganda to demonize them have become your most bitter rivals.

3.Your Xenophobia extends far beyond your so called SADC peoples. YOu discriminate against Burundians, Congolese, Angolans etc. I have seen it with my own eyes.

I don't know where you get that idea that me stating that we are culturally dissimilar equates to enforcing a notion of superiority. We are nothing alike and those are just facts,I don't think that I am superior to you,I just don't get the obsession you all have with us and our country. We are just two groups of people who couldn't,and maybe should never coexist because the friction is too great and pretending that it doesn't exist doesn't really help.

The president of the country is literally a Venda man,a minority tribe by the way,if we don't like Vendas then who the f*** else do you think the rest of the votes he got came from?🤔 ,even on a good day we know you and logic have never been friends.

I am just finding out for the first time that we beefing with people from Burundi grin grin You just pulling random insignificant countries out of your a*s as you go along.. classic seppukuphuku style of clutching at straws.

Live peacefully with who? The same Ghana that you violently removed from your country back in the 80's? You know, the infamous "Ghana must go" violent protests? The same Ghana that rightfully sent you packing out their country for the same bulls*** your people tried to pull in South Africa just last week? Oh what an impressive decorum and basic human decency you people have🙌🙌🙌.. truly impressive lol

You?? coexisting peacefully with anyone? The same people that are literally getting banned and deported from every damn country? I don't recall you people ever being a nation that is agreeable to live with.

We are not obsessed with your country. A majority of us "Africans" have witnessed genocides and the likes on the continent and we know when a peoples' who are one of the youngest countries on the continent in terms of independence are headed that direction.

I have followed this thread with keen interest and I still don't know what that seppuku poster is arguing about.

As a Nigerian, I can tell you what they are doing if you haven't already noticed. It is to ignore all you are saying and conflate lots of issues, some even totally unrelated, just to make whatever watery point they want and spin you well away from the core discussion. We as Nigerians are the best in the world at that.

Unless you have time to waste, and lucky you if you do, I wíll let him or her indulge himself or herself and move on.

The fact that they are the only one posting ( and at length too) to defend the nonsense of this coronation/installation event crap is very very telling.

A mere diasporan "community leader" has zero business wearing a crown, sitting on a throne or being installed. I know it, you know it, we all know it.
