Half baked story.
So the name of the hotel cannot be mentioned abi?
I still don’t understand. That means he would be up to 2hrs in that lift if it could lead to death. Is the hotel that negligent. They should be sued.

Hotel lifts should be put on 24 hours solar system. You can't be having an expensive lift and not have stable electricity. If I were to be that guy's family member, I will sue the hotel to their last kobo

Couple of years back,I had an appointment with a CP in Louis Edet house (police headquarters)at Asokoro.

You had better choose between the lift or stair_case I said to myself.
I choosed the latter.

Although, I was going to the 6th floor but by time I finished the race up,my knees became stressed with fatigue.

Nobody chooses pain but it's better than life threatening situation.

Nigeria safety measures are very low.

That's why many things don't work well.

Why will a high rise building not have a stand by generator and only depend on Nepa light for a country like Nigeria? There should be a law for anyone building a high rise building to have an immediate standby generator or else not build at all. Secondly a life imprisonment for the owner of such building should anyone die as a result of Suffocation and 50years imprisonment should anyone be trapped in a lifter upto 30min.
Even countries where electricity is constant have the laws you just mentioned. Over here anything just goes

Instead of asking why the lift was not opened on time, look at the kind of brainless questions you're asking embarassed

What if porter go chop(eat), or attends to something else.
You can't trust these nigerian workers.
3kay945:
Anyway, lift isn't a big deal. We have in my place of work.
There is a Porter that is monitoring it incase someone got trapped. Beside, it has Solar or inverter backup that can still work for like 30mins should the main electricity cut off.

And if someone got trapped, the Porter will call people that would locate the position or floor of the lift and manually open the door.
All these aren't a big deal. But Nigeria just happened to the man.

It's dizziness, and unconsciousness follows, then into the afterlife.

Smooth transition.

He probably was claustrophobic, that would make him hyperventilate and use up the oxygen faster in that small space...don't know how long he was there though.

You can say that again.

I have had my own fair share of this incident, at least 5-7 minutes in both cases.

Fortunately light was always restored quickly on both occasions.

Maybe the light went out for longer period in his case.
