The Federal Government has announced a major financial support initiative known as the FG MSME Grant aimed at strengthening small businesses nationwide. Under the 2026 National MSME Awards, over ₦1,000,000,000 will be disbursed as grants to qualified Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs).

This was disclosed by the Senior Special Adviser to the President on Job Creation and MSMEs, Temitola Adekunle-Johnson, during a press briefing in Abuja. According to him, the FG MSME Registration portal will officially open in 6 days time, giving business owners across Nigeria the opportunity to apply for the FG MSME Grant.

Unlike past editions where winners received physical prizes like houses and vehicles, this year’s program concentrates on direct financial grants to help businesses grow, expand, and become more sustainable. The FG MSME Grant, themed “Renewed Hope for MSMEs,” is designed to offer practical funding solutions tailored to real business needs.

What Is MSME Grant

The MSME grant also known as the FG MSME Grant is a financial support package offered by the Federal Government or its partners to help small and medium-scale businesses grow without repayment obligations.

The FG MSME grant specifically targets businesses that showcase innovation, job creation, creativity, and effective use of technology. The FG MSME Grant is designed to:

1. Support business expansion

2. Enhance productivity and capacity

3. Promote entrepreneurship

4. Increase employment opportunities

Benefits of the FG MSME Grant
The following are the benefits of the FG MSME Grant:

1. Beneficiaries of the FG MSME Grant will also gain access to mentorship programs, advisory services, and market opportunities both locally and internationally.

2. Complete the online FG MSME Grants application form with correct business details

3. Upload all required documents such as:

A. Business registration certificates

4. Submit a high-quality video presentation showcasing:

A. Your production process

B. Value addition

C. Business impact

5. Review your FG MSME Grants application carefully before submission

FG MSME Registration Portal

The FG MSME registration portal will be accessible from in 6 days time. During this period, all eligible business owners nationwide are expected to submit their FG MSME Grants application online.

The FG MSME Grant will cover several sectors, including:

The grand finale of the awards is scheduled for 27th June, in celebration of the United Nations World MSME Day.
